Two leaders of two large insurgent groups fall in two days.

I suspect that as the U.S. forces draw down, the Iraqis will be turning in more and more terrorist leaders. It's one thing to turn people in to a foreign power. It's another to turn in people to a central government that is made up of Iraqis elected by Iraqis.

It was a good thing for the tribes to throw their support behind the government....strengthens the government's hand a lot.

Fortunately, the Iraqis won't have to worry about McCain, Graham, and Warner when they interrogate these folks.

Hmmm. Interesting that Sunnis must have given it up on one of their own. I may be mistaken, but this might be hugh.

I agree. It seems like were almost to that point where we need to say to the Iraqis "get with the program". At some point, they are going to have to be the ones to take responsibility for themselves. I fear that we're training them to be too dependent on us...a sort of international welfare queen, if you know what I mean.

I believe that the Iraqis are coming up to speed. You can't expect them to do so overnight, and even a few years is pushing it. Here we not only have to train troops, but leadership. The leadership part is going to take a while.
I like what I am seeing as far as the training and responsibility shift that is taking place already. I think it's going to turn out alright. It just takes time.
