Boycott of Citgo launched
WorldNetDaily ^ | 09/24/2006

A pro-family group has launched a boycott of the Citgo oil company because it is run by the Venezuelan government, which is led by U.S.-bashing President Hugo Chavez.

"Sales of products at Citgo stations send money back to Chavez to help him in his vow to bring down our government," said American Family Association founder Don Wildmon in a statement.

I honestly don't know how much good a boycott would do. I think they rarely make much difference. At the same time I know that no decent American of either party should be giving money to that SOB down south.

I will not give my hard-earned money to CITGO. At least I will know I am doing something.

I have been boycotting them for years, but then again, I don't think we have any Citgo stations in this area.

AFA notes Chavez told a television audience recently: "Enough of imperialist aggression; we must tell the world: down with the U.S. empire. We have to bury imperialism this century."

Shades of an EX-russian premiere ?

Let's Boycott Citgo .... There's always another gas station to go to and it will take the teeth out of this snake !

When libnut groups (also Bill "Bozo" O'Reilly) encouraged boycotting ExxonMobil, I went out of my way to buy Exxon or Mobil. I never have and never will buy Citgo, but this kind of publicity drives libnuts to buy Citgo to support a Marxist ally, so I would guess the net effect is near zero.

" I have been boycotting them for years, but then again, I don't think we have any Citgo stations in this area. "

To the best of my recollection, I've never bought CITGO gas in my life.

Do I now have to go to my local CITGO station and buy some so I can *stop* buying from them to participate in the boycott??

Just wondering.....

Trouble is we have CITCO station on the Navy Base in Great Lakes! We don't buy gas from CITGO even out in town.

How can we get CITGO off our base?

That one really shouldn't be surprising. They've been groomed for 40+ years to accept and appreciate the Socialist life. Probably cause they're on the recieving end of the spectrum.

Sometimes it works: It's Working: France Wineries Reeling Under Boycott

French wineries are withering as millions of Americans have begun a boycott of French wine and other French goods, the New York Times reported Thursday. The Times report, "A Most Unsettling Time for French Wineries,” appeared on the cover of the World Business section of the paper.

I never bought Citgo and would not start now, but this issue will be another dividing mark between Red and Blue staters. On a current Dee Ewe thread there are 50+ posters claiming to buy only Citgo and others who will shift to only buying Citgo, one apparent boycotter of Citgo, and one Amoco user.

They don't give a damn about a "boycott". Now, potentially a boycott could put a hurt on some retailers who then might have some influence. But I seriously doubt that.

I have a CITGO card. I stopped using it about six months ago when my mechanic highly recommended I change to Chevron because of the quality of their additives. I have been meaning to cancel the account for months. So, WTH, I'll cancel it this week and claim I'm doing it because of Chavez. But I'm under no illusion that CITGO cares.
