NABLUS, West Bank - Two churches in the West Bank were hit by firebombs early Saturday, witnesses and clergy said, and a group claiming responsiblity said the attacks were meant as a protest against comments by Pope Benedict XVI about Islam. ADVERTISEMENT
The firebombs left black scorch marks on the walls and windows of a Roman Catholic and an Anglican church in the West Bank city of Nablus. Father Yousef, a priest at the Anglican Church, said several firebombs hit the church's outside wall.
In a phone call to The Associated Press, a group calling itself the "Lions of Monotheism" claimed responsibility. The caller said the attacks were carried out to protest the pope's remarks about Islam.

The beginning?
I'm grateful Pope Benedict didn't retract his statement. There's a time for truth, and it's now.
No, Christian persecution has been going on for awhile.
That's right! Firebomb a church. That'll prove to the world that islam is a peaceful religion.
Just a little diplomacy that's all./s
did you read about Tony Blair's blast to the political leaders in Europe for their rabid anti-Americanism? Basically told them that they can't do a thing without the US and rather than being overengaged in world affairs right now, they (Europeans) need America to do more, because they can't do it themselves. Gotta love that man ... so hard to believe he's a Socialist and FOB.
Note to self...This replaces the Cartoon Jihad for awhile until the next excuse for violence comes along.
I totally understand.
Thank you Idish for your correct reading

I think that the "Islamic Militants" and the "ROP" is going to find that Pope Benny is going to be a rallying point which the Muzzies best back away from.
Thats only my $.02 worth and thats coming from a Heeb who respects Pope Benny
They can't...they've hog tied themsleves.
I'm watching everything over there with even more interest for the next little bit. My parents left Friday to work in Jerusalem for the next month as part of their missionary work with their church. Prayers to keep them safe.
prayers for your folks, Mustng
How unexpected.
I guess this all just proves the Pope was right.
Any excuse to carryout their violence. These people are subhuman.
