Whenever a Catholic group rents the whole park. Things like this always are blown out of proportion. Great America is a business that would have been closed today, but they do let groups rent the park for a fee. No one is being excluded as they would have been closed today anyway. Park rental, as well as group admission, is quite common, but not really the issue.
Obviously "admission" policy is set by the renting group, properly, but I've never seen a statement similar to ENTIRE PARK ALL DAY, FOR MUSLIMS ONLY! on these promotions. Guests who've acquired tickets are generally welcome.
Equally important is the nature of the group, which in this case appears to be subversive. Great America can rent to them, they can rent to the KKK too. And they can refuse. When they rent to controversial groups, they're open to criticism. It's perfectly legitimate.

The next "Muslim Youth Day," held on September 8, 2001, faired even better than the first, with 10,000 people attending. The momentum was soon to stop, though, as the organizer for the events, Tariq Amanullah, perished only three days later during the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. This was ironic, because just prior to the assault, he had been working on an ICNA website that was soliciting its viewers to give “material support” to Al-Qaeda, through one of the terror group’s main financing and recruiting sites, Jihad in Chechnya (www.qoqaz.net).An interesting tidbit that I hadn't heard before.

That's correct. If you have the cash, anybody can rent out an amusement park....This weekend is Proctor and Gamble Dividend Days at Kings Island. If you don't have tickets through P&G as an employee or retiree, you can't go. As I noted in post 21, that's the parks choice and criticism of who they lease their facilities to is legitimate.
And If you don't have tickets through P&G is typical of these events. Guests are generally welcoms. Muslims only isn't typical, and worthy of criticism. Ironic, they're missing an opportunity to indoctrinate non-Muslim youth.

I concur.
It sounds exactly the same as Gay-Day at DisneyWorld... or Fenway Park for that matter. A religious group renting the facilities... is an entirely different scenario.

As I understand the Disney situation, they have nothing to do with the promotion, it's simply an outside group encouraging attendance that particular weekend. From what I've heard there are conduct and dress issues Disney could be addressing, but they can't deny them entry to the park.

Can you imagine the uproar if flyers said, FOR WHITES ONLY!! HETEROSEXUALS ONLY!! CHRISTIANS ONLY!!
"GAYS ONLY" is OK.
Just a thought: what if organizers of "GAY DAYS" and "MUSLIM FUN DAY" wanted to schedule the same day?
