Perhaps Katie could crank a veg-o-matic while reading the news, sing the chorus for Ford commercials as a Der Ring des Nibelungen opera, while demonstrating the proper use of suppositories on a chimpanzee.
I'd watch that.

Whoever it is can't be fired right away. You can't fire a person who has checked himself in for emergency rehab.

"You can't polish a turd." Not sure who said it first, but man when it fits, it really fits.

Her ratings DO NOT MATTER.
Advertisers buy all three programs. They look at the "grouping" of abc-cbs-nbc.
This is still enough to turn a profit. Couric is still cheep.

Although nobody could really be stellar I think Tony Snow would be fabulous as a news anchor as would condi rice. I like their voices, facial expressions and general demeanor and intelligence.

They paid her 75 Million?
Too bad they didnt pay her 175 million.
The more they paid the worse they hurt.
Why would they go with her in the first place? Did she screw the CEO? A blind man could see she sucked.
I guess this is what happens when you can only think LIBERAL. Brainlock at CBS.

I am watching the MSNBC replay of the Today show 9/11/2001 right now. What an absolutely terrible job Katie is doing... She and Brokaw were totally clueless that the south tower had collapsed. A reporter told them 8 minutes later that the tower had collapsed and they still ignored it.

She needs a sidekick... How about a hand puppet?
How about a real news legend -- J. Fred Muggs?
After all, he conveys the proper image and solemn gravitas that SeeBS Smooze deserves. And he saved the Today Show once, indicating he may be able to do the same for a certain perky Today Show news reader.

Maybe this new "signoff" she's working on will help. My suggestion is this:
"And that's the way we claim it is..."
It mixes the right amount of Cronkite and Rather.
To: Zakeet
one wonders just what they were thinking putting such a relative lightweight into such a critical position - didn't anybody with any gravitas want the job?
Are these guys so far removed from reality that figured that the credibility of their serious news program could be rescued by someone who's main description is "perky"??
hell I'd do a better job for half of what they're giving her.
