PHOENIX -- Charles Barkley insists he's serious about running for governor of Alabama, but he's got to move back there first.
"I can't run until 2014," he said. "I have to live there for seven years, so I'm looking for a house there as we speak."
And he said he is an independent, not a Democrat as previously reported.
"The Republicans are full of it," Barkley said. "The Democrats are a little less full of it."
Asked if he had ever been in the governor's office in Montgomery, Barkley said no.
"They don't let many black people in the governor's mansion in Alabama," he said, "unless they're cleaning."

Only point in his favor lately: he is generous to charities, even when he can't play the game he's helping to promote.

Anyway, back to Sir Charles, I always cringed when he was a GOP'er when he'd say stuff like "they changed Augusta to keep Tiger from winning because he's black". He's no loss to our side.
Why do you have to rip Shaq... all the guy wanted to do was get in a few movies, win a few titles and become a cop when he retires.

Rush's on-air gushing over Charlie greatly decreased my esteem for Rush. I know Charlie thought he was a Republican back then, but he was still an idiot of the lowest order.
