Will ‘Khaled’ Centanni and ‘Ya'aqob’ Wiig, as apostates, be marked for death?
Jewish World Review ^ | 9-5-06 | Diana West

This is one case where silence isn't golden and ignorance isn't bliss. They are dangerous and dumb

It's not easy to be shocked by jihad these days, five years and numberless atrocities after the Twin Towers imploded on almost 3,000 fellow citizens. That said, I admit my own jihad-fatigue was broken — shattered, really — by the "conversion" to Islam of Fox journalists Steve Centanni and Olaf Wiig videotaped during their two-week ordeal as captives of Palestinians in Gaza.

Why? Andrew G. Bostom, writing at Frontpage mag. tells us forced conversions to Islam "have been the norm, across three continents — Asia, Africa and Europe — for over 13 centuries," and cites contemporary examples in the jihad campaigns of Sudan and Indonesia. Even so, religious coercion, let alone "jihad campaigns," still seems appallingly new to us — if by "us" I can still make myself understood to mean, generally, Western peoples in modern times. Indeed, I can't think of another hostage to jihad forced into Islam — not even Daniel Pearl or Nicolas Berg, and not the U.S. Embassy hostages in Tehran a quarter century ago.

Only forces of coercion — a word which, after all, implies the nullification of individual will.

Anti-truth, anti-freedom, anti-individual, anti-life forces of coercion.

They better look over their shoulders for the rest of their lives and have good security if they really renounced Islam. Muslims regard an apostate as worse than a non-believing Muslim and so see fit to put that person to death. You don't have to religiously follow Islam in the event you convert but you can never leave it once you do become a Muslim.

That is why we have a SECOND AMENDMENT - they can be armed - since police can't help and it isn't in the interest of lawyers and judges to convict & evict terrorists.

Forced religious conversion = torture?

Where is the MSM on this, those complaining about Gitmo, etc?

where are all the human rights groups on this issue. Oh that's right they're too busy monitoring Gitmo. Well maybe Dick Durban will speak out on this atrocity. No he's too busy equating America with the nazi holocaust machine. I guess we'll just have to depend on Katie Couric to get the story out after she finishes interviewing Bill Clinton and Walter Cronkite.

Islam IS a war crime, Islam is also a crime against humanity.

Haven't you figured it out yet? If it can't be used to attack Bush or to attack America, the drive-by media isn't interested.

Just like the Feminazis aren't concerned about stonings of women in Iran. How can they use that against President Bush? They can't, so they aren't interested.

Just like the Greenie-Weenies don't care about massive pollution in China. Attacking that doesn't attack President Bush, the REAL ENEMY.

Of course, if you can come up with a reason that President Bush is responsible for any or all of the above, they will be all over it like white on rice.

There's perfect consistency here, but not in the way you expect.

Khaled and Ya'aqob's activities while held hostage will almost certainly become a microcosm for the larger battle--for the rest of us (or is that U.S.?)

Will some of us awaken from our pacifist slumber upon their implicit condemnation for leaving Islam or ultimately, as they might die at the hands of some crazed (Islamicist) lunatic, named Mahmoud, while vacationing in Jordan Valley, Idaho?

Or will we get more of what we did in Gaza City (or earlier from CNN in Baghdad), platitudes about the beautiful Palestinians and their peaceful religion?

Will they preclude the Islamic capital offense by never converting back, or by never having to meet a crazed Islamicist, because those who remain adherents to that 7th Century collection of insults will have necessarily adopted a very tolerant and ecclectic view of Rodney King's wish?

Yep, it could be a very telling microcosm.

The Fox gentlemen are, will indeed, be under sentence of death because they repeated the formula that IS a genuine- as far as the Mohammedans are concerned, conversion. If they now blow it all off as phoney and then do something totally forbidden like go to church, then any Moho anywhere is empowered and enjoined to slay the apostates, cut their heads off, preferably. They are probably only in actual danger if they return to a Mohammedan country or the Iranian wants to show how far his reach extends.

Forced coercion to religion is nothing new. The Spanish Inquisition was a response to the march of Muslims across Asia and Europe. They were on their way to dominate Europe and Spain wanted none of it. The Muslims were coming with a "convert or die" message and Spain responded with it's own.

There is always the quiet conversion to a different faith other than Islam. One that is practiced without fanfare, but still completely believed in. They may not ever retract what they said, but their hearts may actually be following another faith.

In Christianity this is called 'hypocrisy' and is not generally approved of. Most of the Saints were martyrs for the Faith. They didn't fake conversions to avoid torture and death. They actually believed. Take a look at the new Steyn piece at-
