Iraq's al-Qaeda number two captured

AL-QAEDA'S number two in Iraq, Hamed Jumaa al-Saedi, has been arrested, Iraq's national security adviser said today.

"We have arrested the number two al-Qaeda leader after Abu Ayyub al-Masri,” Muwaffaq al-Rubaie said.

Saedi, an Iraqi, was detained in June and is accused of ordering a February bomb attack which demolished a revered Shiite shrine in Samarra.

The bombing of the shrine triggered a nationwide wave of sectarian violence between Sunni and Shiite factions that has left thousands dead.

Mr Rubaie said intelligence received after the slaying of the former al-Qaeda leader in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, led “security forces to Saedi.”

He said Saedi was arrested in a joint Iraq-US raid north of Baquba and 11 high-level al-Qaeda operatives and nine lesser suspects were detained.

“During the raid Saedi took shelter in a residental building, but he was arrested without any harm to civilians,” Mr Rubaie said.

In June, Mr Rubaie had announced the capture of a Tunisian Al-Qaeda militant allegedly responsible for the Samarra shrine bombing.

Abu Qudama al-Tunisi is accused of taking an active part in blowing up the mosque's golden dome.

Mr Rubaie said that Saedi had given orders to an Iraqi militant, Haitham al-Badri, to carry out the Samarra shrine attack.

Badri, who was linked to the former regime before joining Ansar al-Sunna and ultimately Al-Qaeda, still remains at large.

Badri is also accused of killing of a female Iraqi journalist and two members of a crew working for Dubai's Al-Arabiya television who had gone to Samarra to cover the bombing of the shrine on February 22.

On June 7, Zarqawi was killed in a US air strike, after which al-Qaeda appointed Masri to lead the terror group's operations in Iraq.

Today I am going to take a huge bucket of clams, boil them in salt water, and then drench them in melted butter before eating. Then I will take the broth that the clams made and drink it.

Four months later and we are just now hearing about it?
Security must be improving.

Here's hoping the Iraqi forces extracted all pertinent information from him before they announced his arrest.

Try a dab of horseradish on those buttered clams.

Dang! Now I will have to go shopping. I think I'll buy those big shrimp and a bag of clams. I didn't intend to do anything today, but food happens. I need beer too. I will end up with 6 bags of food. I am so fast that women park their shopping carts or run away:):)

....and 6 more pounds to incinerate at the "holy temple" of BALLY'S Fitness. [silly ranting off]

In all seriousness, I'm so glad that we can still take out the big guns of al-Qaeida like we're doing now. Osama is probably gonna start putting up penny stocks for his "financing" now.

The MSM has not put much effort to push that story all day. Instead, it is hurricane time. The MSM will never put a face of victory on the war against Islamofascism in any geographic area. Blowing up the NY Times building by the Islamos would probably end up being a story how Bush planned it!!!!
