Quote of the Day:

The President: We're approaching the fifth anniversary of the September 11th attacks -- and since that day, we have taken the fight to the enemy. Yet this war is more than a military conflict; it is the decisive ideological struggle of the 21st century.

On one side are those who believe in freedom and moderation -- the right of all people to speak, worship, and live in liberty.

On the other side are those driven by tyranny and extremism -- the right of a self-appointed few to impose their fanatical views on all the rest. We did not ask for this war, but we're answering history's call with confidence -- and we will prevail.

...

Here at home, some politicians say that our best option is to pull out of Iraq, regardless of the situation on the ground. Many of these people are sincere and patriotic -- but they could not be more wrong.

If America were to pull out before Iraq can defend itself, the consequences would be disastrous. We would be handing Iraq over to the terrorists, giving them a base of operations and huge oil riches to fund their ambitions. And we know exactly where those ambitions lead.

If we give up the fight in the streets of Baghdad, we will face the terrorists in the streets of our own cities. The security of the civilized world depends on victory in the war on terror, and that depends on victory in Iraq, so America will not leave until victory is achieved.

For all the debate, American policy in the Middle East comes down to a straightforward choice:

We can allow the Middle East to continue on the course that led to September the 11th -- and a generation from now, our children will face a region dominated by terrorist states and radical dictators armed with nuclear weapons.

Or we can stop that from happening, by rallying the world to confront the ideology of hate, by supporting the forces of liberty and moderation in the region, and by helping give the people of the Middle East a future of hope. And that is the choice America has made.

The path to victory will be uphill and uneven, and it will require more patience and sacrifice from our Nation. Yet we can be confident of the outcome, because America will not waver -- and because the direction of history leads toward freedom.

Thank you for listening.

President George W. Bush,

Predictably, this week the MSM is repeating the lie that President Bush’s response to Hurricane Katrina was too slow.

Here’s the truth, in a great thread assembled by Wolfstar.

Bless and guide President Bush during these difficult times. Give him strength to endure the attacks against him, and the courage to stand fast to his convictions. In Jesus' Name I pray, Amen.

Psalm 71

 1 In You, O LORD, I put my trust;
         Let me never be put to shame.
 2 Deliver me in Your righteousness, and cause me to escape;
         Incline Your ear to me, and save me.
 3 Be my strong refuge,
         To which I may resort continually;
         You have given the commandment to save me,
         For You are my rock and my fortress.

 4 Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked,
         Out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.
 5 For You are my hope, O Lord GOD;
         You are my trust from my youth.
 6 By You I have been upheld from birth;
         You are He who took me out of my mother’s womb.
         My praise shall be continually of You.

 7 I have become as a wonder to many,
         But You are my strong refuge.
 8 Let my mouth be filled with Your praise
         And with Your glory all the day.

 19 Also Your righteousness, O God, is very high,
         You who have done great things;
         O God, who is like You?
 20 You, who have shown me great and severe troubles,
         Shall revive me again,
         And bring me up again from the depths of the earth.
 21 You shall increase my greatness,
         And comfort me on every side.

 22 Also with the lute I will praise You—
         And Your faithfulness, O my God!
         To You I will sing with the harp,
         O Holy One of Israel.
 23 My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing to You,
         And my soul, which You have redeemed.
 24 My tongue also shall talk of Your righteousness all the day long;
         For they are confounded,
         For they are brought to shame
         Who seek my hurt.

My heart goes out to President Bush. He shouldn't have to make speeches like the one you feature. It should be a no brainer, and it would be if not for the people who care more about their power, then our security. God bless this good man!

Hiya Jonny! Thanks for today's Dose.

I have often felt like asterisking a statement about what the president is doing -- sometimes it's not so easy to decipher.

For you:

Wonderful Dose Jonny,

getting here late & had to start over at the Singles thread that I am hosting this weekend.It is primarily a PM thread & I am usually gone most evenings so am really a lousy hostess... but at least the doors are opened.

Love the Papyrus font. Wonder what people see if they don't have that font on their computer. I am a font freak.. embarrassed to tell you how many I have.
