Ford also served two tours of duty in Vietnam with the Third Marine Amphibious Force in 1966-1968. He once went on a jungle mission with a Special Forces Team during the Vietnam War.
First time I ever heard this
I think Martha Raye also served in Vietnam and was blackballed in Hollywood because of it

She was trained nurse.
During 1966 visit to my unit in RVN she assisted wounded. When Doc arrived an asked if she was sterile, she replied "at my age you better believe it".

"He once went on a jungle mission with a Special Forces Team during the Vietnam War."
- I think I read somewhere that after returning from Vietnam, as a friendly gesture, he gave his Special Forces hat to a then aspiring politician - John Kerry.
