Oh, honestly...
Britain has a long tradition of Muslims fighting in our armed forces- I'm sure that the five Indian Muslims who recieved Victoria Crosses in WW1 and 2 would have words for those who questioned their loyalty to Queen and Country.
What utter nonsense.
Check the statistics about the percentage of Muslims in the UK - 1.6 million out of 60 million.
Really!!
That day draws near.
Kind of a racist comment, don't you think? Are you saying that NO muslim can be a loyal citizen? Do you apply the same standard to US military?.....only white christians can be trusted? The guys been there since '62 and I am sure has been thoroughly checked out.
Nobody achieves that kind of rank if they have loyalty issues.
Ever heard of the Northwest frontier? Or the Mesopotamian campaign in WW1? Palestine in 1916-18? East Africa in the same period?
For that matter, Muslims in the KAR fought the Mad Mullah in Somaliland, amongst other actions.
So apart from that...
I agree completely- it's an achievement he should be proud of, not one that should be decried in this stupid way.
Muslims aren't a race.
The UK goes a step closer to being a muslim country, with muslim armed forces.
The military opened its first permanent Islamic prayer center, the Masjid al Da'wah, at the Norfolk, Va., Naval Air Station in 1997
.Interest in hiring Muslim chaplains escalated shortly after the Persian Gulf War in 1991. With Islam the fastest-growing religion in America, the services are moving to accommodate more followers.

Alright.....a lame response, but I will change mine to "anyone who is of the muslim faith". Still, his comments show where he stands.
...and the Malaysian Insurrection.
The direct question was, did Muslim troops serving under British colours ever fight other Muslims? The answer is yes- and it's worth pointing out that they fought against religiously-motivated Muslim opponents in various parts of the world with no problems.
You seem to condemn Muslims for refusing to integrate into British society (which is fair enough, by the way), but when one does and suceeds, you then treat him with suspicion. You want to see Muslim protests against Iran? I think putting yourself in a position where you're liable to be ordering missile strikes on them is something of a protest...
The man should be an inspiration for British Muslims and an example of what can be achieved with talent, perseverance and acceptance of British norms without losing one's identity.
I think you better recheck your history. Sure, it may not be all that common, but it happens. Think about Benedict Arnold. He was a general (and a brave, skilled one at that) and he is one of the greatest traitors in our nation's history. You may or may not agree, but I consider Bill Clinton a traitor because of the whole missile tech-for-campaign money affair. If you agree, then unquestionably his rank (Commander-in-Chief) is higher than a rear-admiral. Alger Hiss, though a civilian, attained significant influence in the US state department while being a Soviet Spy.
I suppose it is best to note that I am not saying anything about this guy in particular, just saying that you cannot place your trust in a rank.
Alot of us here, have no sympathy with or feeling for the sand nazis.
Arnold was a good officer at a time when the continental army was desperate for any trained officer. It was also a time of shifting loyalties in the midst of a war that was almost surely lost. I'm surprised there weren't a lot more traitors then.
What ever happened to him? Did he get the firing squad?
