What It Feels Like... To be Constricted by a Python
Equire ^ | August 26, 2006 | Tom Kessensich,

foot amethystine python in a cage in my house. He was as big around as three or four garden hoses. One day, I stuck my hand into his cage to retrieve a rat he'd dropped, and, seeing movement near his prey, he nailed my forearm. I'm a hockey player and I consider myself fairly quick, but the strike was lightning fast. He dug in and I started bleeding. Was it painful? Well, he has about eighty needlelike teeth, and he left a U shape on my arm. So I'd say yes.

"Time for a little fun with our legless friends."Sounds more like the "legless friend" was having some fun with his owner.Anyways....as the author found out, snakes that big are very strong, fast, and can become very agressive, very quickly.

Many nonpoisonous snakes, including common garter snakes, have a particularly nasty defense mechanism; they spew vile smelling musk all over their tormentors when they are molested. The usual response of someone who gets spewed on is to throw the snake away.

Sorta of like what the democrats have done to us and now the Repubicans with all their spending and ignoring illegal immigration....slowly constricting us (middle class) to death.

"Fortunately, he released and I was able to work the coils off me. Unfortunately, he also got really stressed and defecated all over my bathroom. "

LOL! When it constricts does it come squirting out like ketchup packet and fly everywhere?

Herpetologist, my a$$! This guy is a wuss and stupid.

I've been bitten in the face by a large Burmese python. It doesn't really hurt because their teeth are so small and fine. And I had the presence of mind to keep one hand free so those coils wouldn't come anywhere near my neck. An adult human can unwind a large snake.

ok, first, you NEVER stick your hand in the tank when you
feed your snake. very stupid move. there's a right way and
wrong way to feed 'em, ya know.

second, our son's pet ball python defecated once while he was
holding it, too. very messy and, yep, it was stinky too. he quickly
learned not to hold it a day or so after feeding it, and he learned
the signs to watch for to prevent another surprise like that. ;)

My brother caught an 8' boa in the wild in Brazil.
It wrapped around his arm.
He said his arm was numb in a few minutes.

It took a second person to get it off.

"I guess I'll never understand why folks keep a python as a "pet". I don't know what percentage the incidents are but you hear these stories of how the python ups and kills them one day. Seems like what I would expect ... from a python."

That about sums up my view.
