I was trying to be witty with my ping. I knew you "grok" (dig) these generic polls and figured you might not have seen this one yet. ;-)

My prediction still holds: over/under is +1R in the Senate (RI is a wash no matter what)

Ahhh, dig. Well, I find them somewhat interesting, just as a barometer. I'm interested specifically in the trends, which have very much favored the Pubbies over the past two months.

Didn't they say they wanted to win back the moral values voters? A moral victory would be a nice compromise! :-D

There are all sorts of conflicting answers. ...This looks good for Republicans. We will hang on the senate and the house.

I am in complete agreement with you. (I don't know whether that makes YOU feel more confident, but agreeing with you surely makes ME feel great!) The lack of consistency in the answers being given this year is key.

The polls may swing strongly "R" when the voters start paying attention in late September, but whether they do or not, I don't think the House or Senate are in danger.

Looking good for the Rs . . . The AP and NYT/CBS pollsters are doing their best to shape public opinion with biased reporting and skewed polling; HOWEVER, the closer we get to the actual election, the more VOTERS (vs 'adults') will 'name this game' and vote accordingly!

It's still going to be a tough 2 months -- the MSM/Democrats are going to use EVERY dirty trick in their arsenal this campaign cycle . . . 2004 will pale by comparision!

I pray they'll do better than this comes November, or else we are in trouble. BIG TROUBLE.

Thanks for the thread. I went to the National Journal link and looked over the entire poll. Very interesting.

This is what stuck out to me the most:

Only 28% of LIKELY VOTERS cosidered the Iraq War the #1 Issue facing America today. Out of that 28%, 22% opposed the war. So, only 22% of likely voters consider their opposition to the war the main topic determining how they vote.

I think that is good news.

My only fear is that when we do win, the dems will get so angry that they will use any method to stop legislation. American politics will turn into one huge red herring race. We'll see thought. If every Republican goes out and votes, we'll be looking at a heavy majority this next election.

We'll leave the DU people to cry in the corner or cry foul until no one cares.
