Why did they not simply have a nice church dinner celebrating her over 50 years of service. Then "retire" her from teaching, especially if there were other issues involved.
Sounds like congregation is pulling a Pontius Pilate, and washing thier hands of this woman using Scripture as their wash bowl.Seems to me they could solve this whole problem by having a male superintendent of Sunday School so the women teachers would be "under a man". That is Pastor Paul Yonghi Cho did over at the worlds largest church in Korea. He was using women to lead small groups and as pastor he said he provided the "Scriptural covering" and that ended it. Now you have a woman who was wounded by her church she gave her life too. I swear the Christian Army is the only army that shoots it's own wounded!

You said it better than I did: #16. My father taught Sunday School for decades. Toward the end of his life, his mind and body began to go. Instead of "celebrating the years of his service" as you suggest, the pastor just said he was done. He rarely went to church after that. Not out of spite, but he wasn't feeling well and that helped take the life out of him. He should have resigned before then, I admit, but how you do something is very important.

I also wonder why and how the media got ahold of this. If the teacher herself is responsible, then her actions are proof she shouldn't be teaching. This is an internal church matter, not a public media one.

Perhaps she didn't want to "retire". Some of the members didn't want change and she might have been one of them. Others had taken their grievances public in the past and she may have done the same here.

irregardless of the female ordination issue - you are right - there was no grace here -

Id expect more spiritual fruits from a Pastor

Its my hope he's not driven her from the congregation.....if not church itself

I pity him the wrath of God if this is the case

"They quote First Timothy Two, 11-14: A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, she must be silent,"

Sounds like Cho is trying to play fast and loose, while trying to be "modern" and "all inclusive".

Unfortunately for Cho, the Bible trumps his personal views.
