"Armed liberals that don't want to pay taxes"

That's a good way to describe it; I hadn't thought of THAT one, but it's about right.

We have 150,000 troops in Iraq, and the Mexicans have about 20 million "troops" in the U.S. Who's occupying who? HA !

However, there is also members in the 'tent' who consider 'communism' bad, and would respectfully disagree.

Are you saying that those who believe in the freedom to trade consider 'communism' good? Doesn't sound very respectful to me.

If not, once they have you entangled in 'trade', they will not change.

Are you claiming that China is the same as it was 30 years ago? 20 years ago? 10 years ago? Hasn't changed a bit, huh? China allowed their people to own property 30 years ago? People could choose the jobs they wanted to work at 30 years ago? China had entrepreneurs 30 years ago? Did China have a stock market 30 years ago? Were Chinese individuals motivated by profit 30 years ago? Did western culture influence China 30 years ago?

I recall a few years back there was a controversy over the use of prison labor in the US, something about prisoners being paid 20 cents an hour doing what union labor is paid $20 an hour to do? In 36 states it's legal to employ prison labor to work in commercial enterprise where products can be exported? I wonder if American Honda, Konica, Toys R US, TWA, AT&T, and Microsoft still use prison labor today, or did they bow to union labor pressure and stopped?

I'm against "political prisoners", but not prison labor in general. I think if we're going to house and feed them, they should at least work for their upkeep.

We should reduce the Communist goods in America, we can start right here by banning all the unions.

We don't even have to ban them, just make every state a "Right to Work" state, then they will leave and go bother Hugo Chavez or someone like that.

How about owning private property? How do you feel about that? You never did answer my question. Do they have more freedom today than they did 30 years ago, 20 years ago?

How do you feel about the hundreds of millions of Chinese whose lives have improved because of trade with the rest of the world? Would you rather they remained starving and have no hope for the future? Should they be forced to suffer even more because they were born into a totalitarian country? When you were taught to love your neighbor, did that mean just the people in the same town as you or can't you separate innocent people from the despots they're forced to live and labor under?

I'm sorry.

Yes, you most certainly are.

Sounds reasonable. We need roads and license plates.

Here, let me correct your misstatement.

"Let me end my talk by abusing slightly my status as an official representative of the Federal Reserve. I would like to say to Milton and Anna: Regarding the Great Depression. You're right, we did it. We're very sorry."

Are you saying that as a protectionist you don't want Americans in export or import dependent industries to lose their jobs?

Yes. PRC operates re-education through labor programs. What, however, is the proportion of PRC goods sold in the US from such "slave labor" vs PRC goods from private enterprise production sold in US?

Without this relevant statistic, this article is a useless diatribe.

The United States Senate attempted to answer that question in 1998, but the true extent of slave labor in China is hidden by dummy trade corporations.

BTW, the US Constitution has declared slavery an abomination to free citizenry and once was held up as a beacon for the rest of the world. "free traders" have changed that, I see. I wonder what kind of relativism says that as long as its only a minority of goods that is made by slave labor, that its OK to trade with a slave labor nation?

Thanks for the link. I missed that article from earlier and I have to admit I was surprised by the incredible demand for American brands in China. That is exactly the kind of trend that's going to make it hard to keep the boys and girls of the PRC on the farm. I don't picture any of these folks waving Mao's little red book while wearing Levi's, Nike's and Noxema and listening to the latest hip-hop on their iPods. The development of this middle-class will further isolate the influence of the CCP.

Another good read is this one announcing that for the first time China had surpassed the US in total consumption of consumer goods. Some people want to believe there will never be a middle class in China but it's already happening.
