Hi Jonny. Thanks for today's Dose. I'm thrilled you're doing it. I will stay only a short bit, then have errands to run. Will be back later, though. Great idea to do a tribute to the First Lady.

You're luck is holding, Jonny. You get to post the first new photo of Jenna we've seen in a long time. Plus a great photo of Barney. Now which of the two did you most enjoy posting? ;)

When George W. Bush first considered a career in politics, his wife Laura said, “Okay, as long as I don't have to make any speeches.”

In a 2004 interview, Matt Lauer asked, “Wow, whatever happened to that deal?”

“Exactly,” replied the First Lady, laughing. “What did happen to that deal?”

Today, Laura Bush is almost as visible on the world stage as her husband, traveling all over the globe, meeting with national leaders, showing support for our troops and, yes, making plenty of speeches.

She does all these things not because of any personal political ambition (unlike her predecessor), but because the job simply demands it. With the United States at war—both with the Islamic fascists that want to destroy us and with the traitors here who want to help them—the role of the first lady has been forced to expand beyond its traditional boundaries. And Mrs. Bush has risen to the task.

The First Companion

No other president has had to carry a burden like George W. Bush. He has endured slanderous lies, political attacks and personal threats, all while having to make some of the toughest decisions this country has ever faced.

Two things, I believe, have seen him through these storms:

First and foremost, his unwavering faith in Christ.

And second, the unwavering devotion of his wife.

A gentle reminder: On the Dose the custom is to wait for the day's host to give the all clear before posting other images of any kind. Also, I appreciate your enthusiasm, but the Dose is a non-political thread.
