IT DIDN'T HAPPEN OVER NIGHT
I decided to repost it in "News" because the "Bloggers" section doesn't attract many readers.

small minorities of hedonists have inveigled their way into government and have been able to impose their political will upon the majorityWell at least they weren't Dutch Metallurgical Hedonists.

In his State of the Union address in 1905, President Theodore Roosevelt stated: "There are those who believe that a new modernity demands a new morality. What they fail to consider is the harsh reality that there is no such thing as a new morality. There is only one morality. All else is immorality. There is only true Christian ethics over against which stands the whole of paganism. If we are to fulfill our great destiny as a people, then we must return to the old morality, the sole morality....All these blatant sham reformers, in the name of a new morality, preach the old vice of self-indulgence which rotted out first the moral fiber and then even the external greatness of Greece and Rome."

Norman Thomas, an early leader in the American socialist movement promoted the concept that Americans would never knowingly adopt socialism but, under the name of liberalism, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until one day America will be a socialist nation without ever knowing how it happened. BINGO!

Great read and some excellent observations. I think it is a little optimistic in its projections. We are no where near to throwing off the democratic yoke.
The socialists control a propaganda machine that would give Joeseph Goebbels a wet dream. Lies are not only routinely mouthed in the news but reflected in popular programming. For the gentle reader's consideration:
Global warming, an unfounded proposition is reported as fact.
Criminal behavior is encouraged by the left and hidden as the gun control argument. (One only wonders why the left is building a virtual army of hoodlums). Laws are now only imposed against law-abiding citizens.
We've dug a deep hole. I don't believe we can dig ourselves out. I only hope, god willing that our children can.

Good post, but didn't Teddy turn progressive along the way? I think conservatives should be as wary of big business as they are big government. Power is power is power, and if it is too concentrated in any institution, other than the people, there is danger. IMHO.
parsy, the conservative who is more liberal about some economic issues.

BUMP! This is why social values have to be preeminant issues. Anything else is not true conservatism. A lesson many have not learned, even on FR.

Great article.
Lots of mistakes, though. ("Tow the line," etc.) Were those in the original?

Ya just gotta luv this...
A condor is a large ugly vulture, which feeds on carrion. It stays afloat on hot air and deserts its young when frightened. Its defense mechanism is to throw up, barf a stream of semi-digested meat on its enemies. The bird can't survive near civilization and is becoming extinct in proximity to civilized society. To keep it alive in California, the government now subsidizes its food. It survives quite well in backward South American countries. Could anyone think of a more appropriate symbol for a left-wing socialist movement?
