Help Republicans Win the Connecticut Senate Seat in 2006 [retread troll zotted]
http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/ctsenate ^

Posted on 08/16/2006 12:45:00 PM PDT by Sashasasha

We ask all Republicans politicians to help the Connecticut Republican candidate win the senate seat up for election on November 7, 2008.

We ask you to do this by:

1. Convincing Republican nominee Alan Schlesinger, who has proven to be a weak candidate, to drop out of the race.

2. Replacing Alan Schlesinger with a strong Republican candidate.

3. Accepting the fact that Republicans, like popular Governor Jodi Rell, can win in Connecticut.

4. Stopping all verbal and financial support of Independent Democrat Joe Lieberman, who has pledged to caucus with the Democrats and continue to vote with them on most issues.

5. Endorse the Republican nominee, and work to get him or her elected.

If Republicans continue to surrender this seat to Lieberman, it sends a bad message to America: if liberal senators vote with us on one or two issues, we will let them be re-elected without a fight.

While Alan Schlesinger is legitimate Republican with a conservative record, his election has been mired in scandal. With polls showing his support below 10%, it is clear that he will not win the election. If Schlesinger were to drop out of the race, he could be replaced with a great Republican candidate.

The American Conservative Union gave Lieberman a 7% rating in 2003, a 0% rating in 2004 and an 8% in 2005. Lieberman has already promised to caucus with Democrats and maintain his liberal voting record. There is no reason for Republicans to aid his election in any way.

John Kerry only won this state by a 10% margin in 2004. With Lieberman and Lamont splitting the liberal vote, this is a great opportunity for Republicans to add a seat to their senate majority.

In the 2004 Connecticut Senate race, Republican Jack Orchulli took a third of the vote against popular Democratic incumbent Chris Dodd. Orchulli would easily be able to maintain those votes in 2006, already making him competitive in a three way race.

If the Republican party was united behind a strong candidate like Orchulli, he could win the seat, add to the Republican senate majority and carry out a respectable voting record for conservatives nationwide. The re-election of Joe Lieberman won't do any of that.

Wayyyy too late for it to happen, just sit back and give Lamont a whoopin, Schlesinger is dead in the water.

Even if there's a "strong" candidate and he quadruples current poll support you're looking at 24% of the vote.

Party money and resources are better spent on other Senate races like Pennsylvania.

Good try troll. Your donks worse fear is Lieberman back in the senate, so I will help him get back there with a nice big donation. You anti-war lefties do not have a clue about how to fight the war on terror are an absolute joke. Lieberman is heading back to the senate as an independent and he will vote with the republicans most of the time.

Ha, ha troll! Tell Markos to schedule extra sessions with his shrink!

I admit I am in the minority on this, I just don't understand why everyone wants to surrender this seat to Lefty Lieberman. If Republican can win the Governorship, why can't a Republican (obviously not Schlesinger) win the senate seat with two liberal Democrats splitting up the lefty vote.

Why not TRY? Lieberman is already ahead and Red Ned isn't going to win anyway.

Who is this clown?

No Republican but Jodi Rell could possibly win this race, and there's zero chance she'll run, if it's even legal.

Lieberman is no conservative, has little use for conservatives or conservative views, and will probably continue to be a loyal though not utterly pure Rat. He doesn't deserve to win. But neither does the country deserve to have yet another hard-left senator like Ned Lamont. We have no choice but to support Joementum, even though he doesn't want us.

While the poster may be a troll, there are plenty of strong potential candidates out there -- all easily strong enough to win in a three or four way race. Jack Orchulli (said he'd run), US Attorney Kevin O'Connor (unlikely to run but strongest candidate), and State Sen. John McKinney all should poll enough to beat both Lieb and Lamo.

What is the possibility of Joe running as an independent and then rejoining the dems after he wins?
