I think both conclusions are true:
1. They don't want people to know where the money is going. and 2. Incompetent media relations people.
If the money is in the bank, why don't they simply release a statement of their receipts and the account's balance on hand?

I can tell you from recent experience that once you do that, your opponents will then use your disclosure to make additional wild accusations based on nothing more than their own feverished perceptions of deceipt and dishonor.
I'm not excusing the Simcox crowd, I'm just stating a fact of life that you may consider at your leisure.
