Judging by the car, it must be "East" German engineering.

We wouldn't want to take any credit for that ugly thing.

Some of the PR moves that Diamler-Chrysler has made over the past few months have been downright stupid. First the Dr. Z advertisements on TV and now something like this? I guess nobody told the Germans that a bunch of American good old boys who are looking for alternatives to homosexuality-promoting Ford might be wandering around Dodge showrooms.

Looks like an early '70's Honda 600 with a bad paintjob.

That's a seriously ugly little car. There's no law of physics which says that Germans can't **** up on occasion.

South Africans will NEVER buy these cars; they are far too easy to carjack, which is a rampant, vicious problem there.

Has anyone bought Mercedes parts or paid for maintenance lately? My car has German nothing. It also has Swiss nothing. It's also about 25 to 50% as expensive to get parts for.
I've never been impressed with German engineering when it comes to cars. I've seen how long it lasts and how much it costs when it expires.

Since when is the 'smart car' a Daimler-Chrysler product? We live here in Europe and that is news to me.

Harumph. That thing looks like the Germans took an American PT Cruiser and modified it for a different market.
