France is either in the business of selling arms or surrendering them...... "USE" is out of the question!

History has shown they have not earned the right to use, or sell them!

GOING TO WAR WITHOUT THE FRENCH IS LIKE GOING DEER HUNTING WITHOUT YOUR ACCORDIAN

Does France even have TOW missiles? I thought they used MILAN, ERYX, and HOT for anti-tank stuff.

4-5 April 2000 The TOW Weapon System Partnership Committee met in Huntsville for the second time. Usually held in Luxembourg each April and October, the United States agreed to sponsor this month’s meeting, which was hosted by the CCAWS Project Office and the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM) Deputy for Systems Acquisition (DSA). This meeting also marked the committee’s 25th anniversary. Although several systems had weapon systems partnerships, TOW had the longest running committee. Member nations included Canada, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, and the United Kingdom. The United States was not a committee member, but it did serve as an advisor to the group." http://www.redstone.army.mil/history/tow/tow_chronology.html

I wouldn't be surprised if one of the terms being negotiated for French participation in the peacekeeping force in Lebanon is that first Hezbollah has to give back the weapons France sold to ME countries (for an under-the-table refund of course.)

I don't know if France has TOW missiles, but they could probably buy them from another NATO country and then resell the TOWs to an ME country.

No...it's from Karl Rove's personal stash...AND it's Bush's fault. (/sarcasm - big time)

I think I remember that. A lot of that went on during the Vietnam era. So I guess it could happen now.

Maybe they come from Lebanon. According to this page, Lebanon has an inventory of 20 TOWs. I suspect they are older than 2000, however.

The nomenclature on the cases looks wrong to me. Wouldn't U.S. Milspec stuff be labeled something like,

"MISSILE, AT (or 'Anti-Tank'), TOW, one each"

Yep, as much as a like the guy, Bush screwed up.

Let me lead you through Foggy Bottom.

Saudi Arabia is our Ally! (horse-shiite)
We must protect the Sauds and Sabahs.
The Sauds fund Wahabbism.
Wahabbists run Madrassas.
Madrassas "educate" children.
Madrassa alumni grow up to be clerics or Islamists
(or both at the same time)
Islamists are sworn to our destruction by their Koran.
We sell weapons to the Sauds and Sabahs.....

It's ELEMENTARY, Watson.

I know a while back there was a thing with Israeli black market folk who were selling weapons, primarily small arms, to the Palestinians.

However, I don't think they were responsible for anything as large as a TOW and anyways, that'd be stretching the realm of possibility. The Saudis had TOWs at least as of Desert Storm, but the regime there hates the Shiites. Of course, this could be a case of who Saudi Arabia hates more...

Also, they could conceivably be weapons captured from our forces in Iraq (kinda like the M249 Zarqawi fired in his video for propaganda purposes) and smuggled through Syria (if there are only a handful of them). But I don't know if we'd have any reason to have TOW missiles in Iraq, and getting missiles AND launchers would be difficult.

Well, sorting through the wanderings of my mind, I think the Saudi route sounds most reasonable IMO.
