I love Montana. I miss the smell of the ocean sometimes though, but this is my home now. We'd never been to Montana until one May, we drove up, bought a house, and moved. The seasons are intense! Not as cold as Korea.

I spent 12 years in the Army and I believe Americans should be able to defend themselves and their homes. Buy a handgun, become proficient and get a concealed carry permit if possible. Then put it out of your mind. In my experience trouble usually comes as a surprise, so there's no use being paranoid, just prepared. There's definitely more people here that would defend themselves and there homes with firearms than anywhere else in the world that I've seen.

Thank you for serving our country   :-)

Montana does sound like a wonderful place, despite the winters.....I think that I might actually enjoy "real" seasons for a change.  Here in the Pacific Northwest everything is terribly temperate, except for the Leftists, unfortunately.  It would be well worth it, I think, to be able to live in an area where you won't get your tires slashed if you put a Republican bumper sticker on your car and where people don't think it's cool to wear Che Guevara t-shirts to the supermarket.  I'm willing to put up with a few negatives in order to be able to be around decent, sane people for a change.

Thanks very much for your post; it's sincerely appreciated   :-)
