To see what people in the uk think about this idea: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=397008&in_page_id=1770&in_page_id=1770&expand=true#StartComments
I have a 4-yr old and 5-yr old in state school in England and I doubt any of the parents around here would stand for this nonsense.

I initially saw those comments and I didn't post them or link to them here because when it comes to the Teacher's Unions, my experience has been that it is utterly irrelevant what the public or the parents say or want....the agenda of the Union will be forced down their throats regardless. Examples in the USA include forced busing to achieve "racial equality" in schools ( a dismal failure, millions of lives disrupted and never an apology from the Unions after decades of use), "Guess and Go Spelling"- an attempt to dumb-down the rigors of spelling education in order to make it easier on teachers....a dismal failure and we have millions of lousy spellers as a result.... "Mainstreaming" problem students (putting slow and / or disruptive children in with normal and bright kids and teaching the entire class at the very lowest level....still done today and it's responsible for millions of bright kids getting completely bored and fed up with Education).... the list goes on and on. The Teachers Unions and the Left (all the same, actually) are constantly experimenting on other people's kids, usually with the goal of making it simpler for the teachers and providing less opportunity to rate an individual teacher on their ability or competence, and usually with dreadful results for the children. ALL of these insane and obviously worthless plans have been bitterly opposed by parents (and the saner teachers) all along, but to no avail. The Unions are too powerful and they have shut parents out of the loop....and that's the way they like it...
BTTT.
I'm sorry but I'm not in the U.K....I'm a proud American stoat :-)
