Yeah, you're right, I shudda checked Snopes like I usually do and tell my friends to do when they send me lots of stories by email.
But the recoil story sounds good and I suppose represents a point of view or philosophical feeling about the war on Islamofascist terrorism. It's a GOOD urban legend. Or at least one I would like to believe.
Be a good line in a movie.

You're not the only one, I had accepted it myself, if your version hadn't used marine instead of special forces, I never would have thought to look into it.
I was surprised when one of the google listings was Snopes, but as soon as I read it, I slapped my forehead and said DOH!
