I tossed mine along the road during a 26 mile hike at Fort Knox. Yeah, I had to pay for them, but I at least got to wear my wire rims for the last weeks of basic.

A buddy of mine carried a Gumby through Airborne School. The trainers got in on the joke and pinned a set of miniature jump wings to Gumby when his owner received his (full sized) set.
At Ft. Bragg, the members of the 82nd Airborne have the habit of referring to various mundane things as "the only Airborne (whatever) in the Free World." Well, my buddy was the proud owner of the only Airborne Gumby in the Free World.
