Sorry. It is not about me and your ad hominem attack are so typical of the "Israel can do no wrong" lobby.

This one is going to cost them.

Gee, I just heard the IAF dropping more bombs here in Beirut.

Now, THAT is going to help us muster more support, as we try to evacuate Amercians, Brits, Canadians and French.

The true "me first" is not me.

P.S. where can I find out about "that tax free paycheck?" And if you followed the the thread, you'd know that my mission was registered with the IDF, the U.N. and the U.S. But don't let that get in the way of your rant.

You do know that Israel is actually holding back until ya'll are out of there don't you. They are risking the lives of their own citizens by slowing down their operations for US and other ex-pats.

Look, I wish you well, really. Lord knows I could very well easily find myself in your position any time. I simply love traveling and there are very few places on this Earth that I would not visit.

But calling yourself a hostage of Israel is way over the top. I can forgive you, you've obviously been up all night and you're in a war zone.

Sorry to hear your tax free paycheck doesn't exist, but I believe from following the thread that you were complaining that you COULDN'T register with the US and made many posts to that effect. You were under "UN protection" but voluntarily relinquished that protection to avoid going to Damascus. Understandably so. I wouldn't trust Syria or the UN, either.

I'm going to bed, perhaps you should try to get some sleep as well. I'm heading to Rome next week for a lovely vacation and then on home. I won't be registering in Rome by the way. If Termini gets blown to smithereens and I'm in it, too bad for me ;-)

Good luck to you.

You have obviously lost sight of who the enemy is. I can't imagine you would travel to a volatile region without doing a little research, so I have to assume you once knew. It must be the stress and lack of sleep. I wish you the best, and hope you get out of there intact.

I am a retired Foreign Service Officer and been involved in overseeing two evacuations, one from Tehran in 1979 and the other from Saudia Arabia during the Gulf War. Once hostilities start, the best thing you can do is to sit tight for a few days, keep in contact with the Embassy, and then decide what is best for you in terms of an evacuation.

The Embassy can't process everyone at once. Based on personal experience, we set up processing centers and controlled the numbers based on lift capacity. We established 24 hour a day answering services to handle questions from amcits. Since you are a traveler, you would not be part of the existing warden system, which is activated in such cases.

Since hostilities are ongoing, you are probably better off staying in place until things quite down. It is a matter of days not weeks. Since the airport has been damaged, I would participate in the Embassy evacuation process to Cyprus. Stay calm, don't panic, and you should be fine. I would not advertise that I am an American.

Just saw an article here on FR. Your evacuation travel fees will be waived. You will not have to pay anything.

I think your whole tirade is a scam. Nobody in the situation you claim to be in has this much opportunity to be posting, what with dodging all those evil israeli bombs and all. What you're doing is trying to turn this dialogue into yet another attack on the Israelis.

It's clear from your post that you are an anti-semite hiding behind the de rigueur victimhood your type hides behind. Ann Coulter was right. Lefties always put their "victims" out there because anybody who doesn't go along with whatever they're whining about gets to look like the "mean-spirited" bad guy.

Let's look at what you said:

"Sorry. It is not about me and your ad hominem attack are so typical of the "Israel can do no wrong" lobby."

---Your anti-semitism is showing, dear. No mention of the hezzies who fired first and did the kidnapping.

"This one is going to cost them."

---And you just can't wait, can you? No mention of the hezzies who started this in your rant against Israel.

"Gee, I just heard the IAF dropping more bombs here in Beirut."

---You're not in Beirut.

"Now, THAT is going to help us muster more support, as we try to evacuate Amercians, Brits, Canadians and French"

---You're not trying to evacuate anybody. You're too busy posting on the internet bitching about your own country and the country that was attacked FIRST.

"Gee, I just heard the IAF dropping more bombs here in Beirut."

Grow up you're in a war zone now.

WTF do you expect. Hizzbolah crossed into Israel killed 6 soldiers, took 2 hostages and have launched over 1000 rockets directly at Israeli citizens. As soon as most of the civis are out of Lebanon, Israel will likely commence in earnest. Hopefully, with troops on the ground.

Your situation is a lot different but last night I think the behavior of the Katrina victims was affecting some of our posts. We all handle stress in our own way. I hope when you read this you are on safe ground again. The best to you.

Hope you are safely evacuated by this point. I don't understand why you didn't stick with your IMF contingency. But that's neither here nor there at this point. The State Department is not an evacuation machine. With such a large number of possible evacuees in a warzone, someone had to decide if the military needed to provide cover and how much military. Military assets for such an operation don't just fly into a warzone. And warships that are already on a mission don't just change course with the snap of a finger. It usually takes a few days because it would be stupid to not think things out and lose a ship along with a bunch of potential hostages.

You expect the US Govt to immediately rush in w/out clear military planning? That would create more casualties than needed. You need to stop your whining like an arrogant civilian.

That is, if you are even being truthful, which I doubt.

Hope that you are on your way home by now. If not, please do call that number I sent you earlier. They have gotten 100 home by private evac and another 100 are still in-country, but in safety in the north, some leaving today and some tomorrow.

Just wanted you to know - the man I talked to on your behalf was just on our local TV news telling that. I was kinda hoping you were one of the 200 he was talking about!
