Iran and Syria's Role in Mideast Crisis
FoxNews ^ | July 15, 2006 | John Gibson, Victor Davis Hanson, MIchael Rubin

Posted on 07/15/2006 11:35:50 PM PDT by FairOpinion

Transcript of John Gobson Interview with Victor Davis Hanson, "National Review" online contributor, senior fellow at the Hoover Institution and author of many books including the latest, "A War Like No Other.", and Mechael Rubin, Editor of MIddle East Quarterly.

Gibson: So the Iranians and the Syrians seem to be transparently behind this and seem to feel they can get away with it. Why?

Hanson: Two reasons. I think tactically in the short-term, they want to encourage terrorism up to the point where Israel does not hold states responsible and the long-term strategic view, they feel that right now the West is being blackmailed by high oil prices, were restricted by this idea of building democracy in Iraq where we don't want to be distracted.

G: Are you saying they believe we have our hands tied and can't respond?

H: They think that we can respond if we are pushed to it. But they think that they're going to unloose Hezbollah and Hamas up to the point where we think that we can talk, we can use diplomacy and we can handle it.

They don't want to let them turn this thing into a conventional war where a frustrated Israel or the United States thinks we have nothing to lose and we're in World War IV, clash of civilizations. So they are betting that they can finesse this enough to turn it into some type of terrorist operation.

Quite interesting and enlightening - highly recommend going to the link and reading the whole thing.

Hanson thinks, that one of the things that emboldened Iran and Syria, is that they think that the US POPULATION is not ready for another war.

We can thank the Dems and the traitorous MSM for encouraging our enemies and make them think that they can get away with attacks.

They will always continue to use US media against us.

I think Hanson has it wrong, that the US will back down. High oil prices are more of an incentive to weaken Iran than to cow toe. Cowboy diplomacy is not dead. Furthermore, the nuke issue will not go away -- but increase, if America backs down. America has more to gain with the collapse of Syria's ruling family... which leaves only Iran left in the house of cards.

Read it again -- Hanson didn't say that the US will back down, he said that Iran and Syria think so. He is responding to Gibson's question:" "So the Iranians and the Syrians seem to be transparently behind this and seem to feel they can get away with it. Why? "

And the Dems and the media were the ones who let Iran and Syria think they can get away with it, and that's why they started the conflict.

Of course we are not going to let them get away with it, but if we had a united front IN the US, they may not have become so emboldened to start the conflict in the first place.

" The US Media -- our enemies best friend. "

Correction:

The US Media -- our enemies best friend, spies & leaker's of our classified information to the enemy.

Now there, that sounds better.

Remember my friend, the NYTslimes.

Just great.

Now we have "news reader types" like Gibson grilling experts like Hanson and posing kindergarden queries that lead to almost zero enlightenment or goofball retalliatory "quasi-opinions" from self-appointed sidewalk superintendents boldly spewing away without engaging the old "headbone".

The MSM is bankrupt and lethally crippled as a source of intelligible information...resembling nothing more than street theatre.

No, there is still Saudi Arabia - the real financier.

Excellent discussion, and just further supports the idea that Israel should take this to the heart of the beast - Ahmadinejad and Teheran.

The first thing Hanson and others in the media should start doing is stop referring to "Hizbollah" and "Hamas" and start referring to them as "Iranian and Syrian military forces". That is exactly what they are with no spin attached.
