I'm sure the Muslims believe they are right too.

"Restraint" by Bush means "Don't go nuclear."

Get a clue, you Bush-hater, you.

LOL. The Pres made it crystal clear what "restraint" means for him. Speaking himself and through Condi Rice he said it means not disturbing Lebanon's "fragile democracy" and not "harming civilians". Two things that are literally impossible to do if you're waging war in Lebanon.

So, is the admin keeping this duplicate post alive for the sole purpose of ill informed and bigotted Catholic bashing?

Perhaps. One can never really know another's motives, so it is often dangerous for a Christian--or any generous person-- to speculate.

A charitable interpretation might be that he's kept this thread open to allow faithful adherents of the Roman Church to educate ignorant people. And I think a few thoughtful posters have tried.

The Old Testament G-d is quite a different G-d than the one in the New Testatemnt.

God is "The Same Yesterday, Today, and Forever" In my bible.

They can believe all they want. Scripture clearly says they are wrong.

Muslims also do not believe in God. They believe in Allah, which was the Arabian moon deity. Mohammed made up a religion, and the religion he made up has nothing in common with that which God established. Mohammed's life was in no way an example for religious people to follow.

Jesus said He and the Father are One. Muslims believe that God has no son, and that Jesus is not divine.Just a good teacher. Wrong again!

Then again, this thread is more about Israel being asked to restrain itself by the Vatican. We should stay on topic.

We now return you to the regular thread.

Not harming civilians is an admirable thing to recommend. Since we can't avoid harming civilians in Iraq, I'd say that statement, along with "not harming the fragile democracy in Lebanon", are largely boilerplate to satisfy public consumption.

Jack Chick is as hate filled and ignorant as a Fred Phelps. To call men like him and Phelps Christians is an insult to all true believers.

Now THAT is a rational which makes no sense at all!

Some here are saying that this statement was put out by a "rogue" Vatican official and that the Pope never said this. Now you are saying that the Pope is all for what the article says, whilst others claim that the MSM has twisted all of the words around. So, which is it?

Don't you think that the Pope should just keep quiet about this? After all, condemning Israel from reacting to what was virtually an act of war, is not exactly helpful to the situation.

What should the Vatican say? -"Let's hope this escalates into a really nasty war!"

The Vatican ought to condemn the terrorist and not the defenders.

Oh brother, you can set your watch by it, threads like this draw drooling knuckle-dragging anti-Catholic BIGOTS like YOU out of the woodwork like the fungus that you are.

I was born and raised Catholic. Parochial school and all. In my '30s I woke up.

Well, apparently you have no problem lowering yourself to my level. You're a real class act.

You don't like Catholics much, do you?

Those were valid criticisms of the Vatican's position on this conflict, sink - Israel has a right to defend itself. I agree we get some Catholic bashing here, but in turn, you shouldn't attempt to deflect valid criticism of Vatican politics by trying to insinuate that such is Catholic bashing.

A little bit under half of the Lebanese population is Maronite Catholic who would love nothing more than to get rid of Hizballah

It doesn't matter to Israel whether they are Catholic or Martian. Israel is getting attacked by Hizbollah. And Syria and Iran are using the Lebanese transportation infrastructure to arm Hizbollah with thousands of missiles and rockets, and Hizbollah is using the transportation infrastructure to move those weapons around. Your position stands in complete ignorace of the large number of missiles raining down on Israel from Lebanese terroritory - and those missiles were not manufactured in Hizbollah territory, they came from outside the country.

But, then again, the Israel-bashers always omit such details to make the Israelis the aggressors, as opposed to responding to aggression. Israel withdrew from Lebanon, and was willing to give the Palestinians 96 percent of what their stated objectives were. That right there shows that Israeli's enemies have an objective well beyond territory - and instead wish Israel's destruction.
