Hate to be a pain about it, but 'Shrapnel' is not the same as a 'Shell Fragment'.

People wounded and killed in modern artillery barrages or from airstrikes with bombs have been hit with shell fragments, not shrapnel.

I don't think shrapnel has been used since WWI.

What is the difference between artillery shrapnel and shell fragments?

Don't even get me started on the difference between a 'mortar', a 'cannon', and a 'howitzer'.

Oh, I thought shrapnel was what Cheney's lawyer *suffered* from.
