.....or until Lebanon has a legitimate government with an armed forces capable of maintaining sovereignty......

The lebaneese Army will operate jointly with the IDF in the operation. Their role might be minor, but they have been invited into the fray by Saudi Arabia. The Saudi voice that is seldom heard spoke out loud and denounced Hezbollah. That was notice that Lebanon and Israel can get the job done with no objections from the people who count, the GCC.

The Saudis have denounced Hizbollah because it is Shiite-based and a proxy for the Iranian mullahcracy. That is all. The Saudis want Israel out of Lebanon and Gaza *now*, and AFAIK haven't said anything about the alleged army of Lebanon fighting alongside Israel. The Lebanese PM has demanded a ceasefire, and has backed off his criticism of Hizbollah, no doubt under a quietly delivered death threat.
MrEdd: A big problem is that the head of this snake is in Saudi Arabia...
Saudi Arabia is indeed a nest of vipers, and pays for terrorism all over the world. It is trying to build a Saudi-dominated theocracy in various countries (including this one, but that's a long term goal). But Iran has a similar plan -- an Iranian Shiia-dominated theocracy in various countries -- and Hizbollah is a creature of Iran.
bert: You are incorrect. The Saudi's have denounced Hezbollah and given the greenlight for Isreal to destroy it. They speak for all the GCC who desire a stable and strong economic region.
You are incorrect. The Saudis want to destroy Israel, and have not given Israel any green light (nor does Israel need one from the 3000 corrupt princes, or care what they think). The only reason the Saudis have denounced Hizbollah is that Iran runs it. Period.
Fitzcarraldo: Basically Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and others don't want to become vassal states of Iran. Hezbollah is clearly an Iranian puppet.
I agree -- although there are always Egyptians, Saudis, and Jordanians who would agree with the aims of Iran. Saudi Arabia is in a bad box right now, and my view is that an SA civil war is not too far off. That is part of the evil plan of Karl Rove of course. The Saudis do not want Iran to have the Bomb, and do not want them to succeed in Iraq. The Saudis also don't want the US to succeed in Iraq. But the Saudis have steadily lost ground in Iraq, and in the other Gulf States -- not to mention Afghanistan.
