Actually, Lincoln was a libertarian. He certainly wasn't going to use the government to interfere in people's personal and economic lives. I remember a quote from him, saying that anything should be permissible, as long as a man does not harm another person.
By the way, do you have any proof that Rudy is a fiscal liberal, like the President?

Actually, Lincoln was a libertarian Actually he wasn't. The Democrats of the day were the small Govt. anti everything party. Lincoln was for the Feds doing everything from building a transcontinetal railway to paying for local infastructure improvements. Homestead Act, an a whole bunch of other expansions of the size and scope of the Fed Govt. To put him in terms of todays political debate, he would be a Moderate to Conservative Democrat.

While RudyG straightened out NYCitys finances and got them out of the red, he didn't do away with the city income tax and he didn't reduce the size of the city government. Giuliani is the same type of politico as Schwarzenegger is. They're both big government, liberal Republicans. Reminds me of something Tom McClintock said back during 2003 Cal recall election.
"I have always thought that one of the phoniest claims in California politics is that 'I'm a fiscal conservative but a social liberal,' which always invites the question: 'How do you plan to pay for your socially liberal programs with your fiscally conservative policies?"
A truer statement has never been made.
