Lt. Pantano wrote a book, he has to seperate himself from others to appear like an observer, not a conservative. It is what other actors and actresses should do, remain in the political middle, to sell to both sides.

If he wanted to sell to both sides, what better place to sell than the Savage Nation? Independent conservatives find truth and fault on both sides.

I'm sure Savage & his listeners don't regret helping Pantano (why in the world would he/us?), but the simple truth is that Pantano could have expressed some form of gratitude (an e-card, maybe? lol). No one is asking him to carry the water for Savage. It seems to me to be a lack of respect.

That said, I am happy that Pantano out there speaking for the conservatives, regardless of his feelings for Savage.

I heard him interviewed by Hannity and he thanked all his listeners for their contributions to the Patano Defense Fund. But if memory serves me right Savage was the only one beating the drum for Patano with his Defense Fund. Could be Patano got his people mixed up.

Savage should get his hurt feelings out the way and invite Patano on his show and maybe help clear up the misunderstanding if any.

Savage broke the mold by stirring up his audience in order to raise funds for Pantano's defence... and now he has to beg Pantano to be on his show?

Nah. Pantano's is a great story, but I don't see whereas Savage has to get over anything. He was personally slammed, in an indirect way, as were his listeners that sent money. It was Pantano's choice to not thank Savage or any of us (his listeners) who contributed to his defense fund; instead he made his debut on Hannity & Colmes.

As with any misunderstanding sometimes it takes two to tangle. If Patano mistakenly thinks that it was Hannity and not Savage who beat the drum for his defense fund how would he ever correct that mistake if people ASSUME that it's not a mistake.

If it's an unintended sleight and I don't know if it is or not but based on what I heard on Hannity's show it sounds like it could be how else is Patano to know about it unless Savage tells him. But if Savage automatically assumes it wasn't and I know Savage tends to jump the gun sometimes, then the truth will get sacrificed in the process and nobody benefits.

Here's some more info as I'm still looking for some answers that make sense;

Pantano update dtd 17 Jun
Charles Gittins, the attorney for 2nd Lt. Ilario Pantano, has sent an e-mail of thanks to radio talk-show host Michael Savage.

Mr. Savage was one of the first to come out in support of Lt. Pantano, whom the Marine Corps charged with the murder of two Iraqi insurgents, only later to drop the charges. Mr. Savage talked almost nightly of Lt. Pantano's predicament and urged his millions of listeners to contribute to a defense fund.

"Your support was critical to our successful defense of Lt. Pantano," Mr. Gittins wrote. "Your constant support and visibility on the issue kept Lt. Pantano's plight at the forefront of public discourse and made it nearly impossible for the Marine Corps to take the case to trial."

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

We thank everyone who took such a personal interest in the successful fight to have my son, Marine 2nd Lt. Ilario Pantano, exonerated of all the charges against him giving him freedom and restoring his good name.

Overwhelming support came from people in every state in the Union and beyond, starting with an outraged, highly decorated WWII veteran from the famed Army Infantry's 84th Railsplitters to an 8 year old boy who so wanted to see justice prevail. A mother whose Marine son was killed with seven other Marines by a white SUV car bomb in Iraq gave us her support. Powerful prayers, letters, emails and telephone calls gave us strength. Knowing that so many concerned citizens were aware and outraged and taking action along with us made it possible to face each day with renewed energy.

We thank those of you in the media: radio, print, TV, and the vast internet with its brilliant bloggers. Thank you for your investigative work and for keeping Ilario's story before the public where it was closely observed. Your focused light shining on this dark chapter helped bring the truth forward.

We thank you, Michael Savage, for inviting Ilario and me on to The Savage Nation. Fortuitously, one night among your many listeners was the distinguished Congressman Walter B. Jones, who after hearing our discussion had the courage and foresight to author House Resolution No.167, taking this tragic story from the air waves to the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Thank you to the skillful and brilliant civilian/military defense team which so competently and diligently protected my son's rights.

At that wonderful moment when we learned, from the media, that the charges against my son had been dropped and dismissed, we felt the relief that comes after a long, hard struggle. We cannot help but wonder why. We hope that some good will come from this difficult experience. Fortunately, and we thank God everyday, Ilario came home alive and well, and was able to continue the battle for his life in a court of law. It has been an uncommon experience. We have all learned. We have grown stronger. Our family will always be grateful for the efforts made by so many great patriots to make sure that justice ultimately prevailed.

We will not take our freedoms for granted. We are grateful to those who have fought so hard and to those who have given their all for the rights and the freedoms we so casually enjoy in our everyday lives. God bless America.

Merry K. Gregory Pantano Proud mother of Marine Second Lieutenant Ilario Pantano Founder, DefendtheDefenders.org

Well I guess this just about shoots my 'mistaken identity 'theory all to hell. So his mother and lawyer both personally thank Savage. But why won't Patano? Strange.

After missing the live show last night due to 'summer static', i luckily caught most of the show on delay (2 stations at diff. times). That was one helluva show; the 3rd hour was superb, just about perfect. The only thing missing was a good 1-2 min. rant. And how about the last line: 'Straighten-up or Die Right'. Pure Savageism, that goes over the head of the untrained Savage ear. It was a classic; put it in the vault. BTW, i just got that RAMMSTEIN CD SEHNSUCHT and i can't get that DU HAST song out of my head. The other song that's familiar is TIER which Savage usually plays for the opening of the last segment of the 3rd hour.

I disagree with his apparent slight of the Savage Nation, but it is prudent economically if you believe what the MSM says, and most consumers in the US are quite ignorant. If he would have plugged his book after coming on the Savage show, he would have made MORE money IMO.
