Contrary to what the small band of pro-amnesty propaganda shills are spewing on FreeRepublic these days, the Pence Plan is a liberal amnesty proposal. Plain and simple.
LMAO.
By "pro-amnesty propaganda shills", I assume that you are referring to the fake conservatives who have infested this conservative forum lately. Ignore them.
While Pence is a good conservative with an excellent conservative record, his proposal is a poor one which undermines the conservative Republican-authored House border security legislation. Pence was my favorite for President in 2008 but thsi proposal calls that into question for me. If only he'd stuck with the conservative game plan in the House.
Plan sounds ok to me.
Yep. Any bill that has the stench of "comprehensive" in it is a loser right off the bat - - "comprehensive" is code for "this bill includes unpalatable crap that would never pass on its own". I am a bit surprised at how many suckers there are around here who buy into this "comprehensive" con job whether it be Kennedy's bill or, now, Pence's.
But Ronald Reagan went way beyond amnesty. Reagan proposed totally open borders with Mexico. His program was called the North American Accord. All a Mexican needed under the Reagan plan was a Mexican birth certificate and he or she could come to the USA live and work where they wanted and never have to go home to Mexico. Reagan wanted Mexicans treated just like Canadians. NO visa or passport reqired .. just a Mexican birth certificate.
Reagan on open borders during his time in office.
Reagan on immigration and open borders in 1989
Are you sure you are still a Reagan Man. Reagan at one point even spoke out against a fence along the Mexican border.
