Can dismissal of the Delay case be far behind?

A ruling on Friday against Ronnie Earle suggests that the Delay case dismissal should soon follow:

“AUSTIN – A state district judge threw out a felony indictment against the Texas Association of Business on Thursday, ruling that the group’s ads in the 2002 legislative elections did not expressly advocate the defeat or election of candidates.

The ruling is probably a significant blow to Travis County District Attorney Ronnie Earle’s prosecution of the state’s largest and most powerful business lobby.

Exonerated: Rove, Cheney, and others on the Plame game. Frist on his stock trades Just about everyone involved in the Abramoff scandal And soon ... T. DeLay.

Aside from Scooter Libby, I'm hard-pressed to produce even one name that supports the Democrats' charges of corruption. And the case against Libby seems weeeeaaaaak.

It would appear the "culture of corruption" is within the 'Rat party, up to and including filing a lot of false charges.

well, if the case is thrown out, maybe the Democrats will live to regret suing to keep his name on the ballot after his withdrawal on the Republican line

Hey, if DeLay misses this election cycle, is there anything preventing him from running for Congress again in the future?

Judge Lynch’s order said prosecutors’ theory of illegal campaign expenses, while innovative, cannot be found in the state election code. Even if it were, it would be unconstitutionally broad and vague, he said.”

I guess we have a new definition of innovative.

Innovative would be putting a good spin on Earle's charges. He basically fabricated new laws against an accepted practice on both sides, selectively enforced them, and even had to jury shop to get an indictment from a jury who's foreman is on tape saying he knew Delay was guilty just from seeing the political ads(long before the case was even presented).

I can't wait until Delay brings charges against Earle.

True, if the main felony charges are thrown out, if Delay can't get off the ballot, could he change his mind this week to run again?

Boy that would piss them off BIG TIME.

He moved to Virginia, so he'd have to convince a new group of voters to elect him.

I'm just glad there are still enough people with good minds who can see the truth through all the poop liberals have heaved on us.

I doubt DeLay will be prosecuted. The Democrats got rid of him and he's no longer in Texas. So there's no reason for Ronnie Earle to press ahead with the case.

It's my understanding that the Dems are saying that he hasn't really moved. That way someone else can't be put on the ballot in his place. What a riot if this backfired on them. Although, I'm sure they will now say that he has, indeed, moved.

The very first thing on the agenda of the next Texas legislative session should be to strip the Travis Co. DA of the authority to bring charges against legislators who live outside Travis Co. There is no reason to have Ronnie Earle or his liberal successors(and this being Ausin, the blue anus of Texas, they will always be liberal) the power to indict Republicans from all over the state. This should have been done immediately after Texas Republicans won the majority, but as usual, they were asleep at the wheel.

Thanks for keeping track and passing the word along. All I hear about are the charges, not the dismissal of charges.
