Major Disaster unfolding over central/eastern PA..
Allentown was about 4-5 inches below normal in rainfall before this mess started. Still no flooding problems here, but this is pretty high ground.
Haven't heard of any flood problems along the Delaware River which rose about 20 feet above normal during Hurricane Ivan a couple of years ago.
NBC10 is reporting flood warnings for the Delaware River as well as the Schuylkill. The Delaware is mentioned at Easton, New Hope and Trenton.
www.nbc10.com
On the Delaware River, Easton could get hit hard. The NWS forecast a flood crest near 35 feet by late Wednesday, compared with a flood stage of 22 feet. In New Hope and Lambertville, the flood crest is forecast at between 18 and 20 feet, compared with a flood stage of 13 feet. In Trenton, the flood crest is forecast at between 25 and 27 feet, compared with a flood stage of 20 feet.
update...rainfall rates of 1-3 inches per/hr will continue will into the night over the river basin
Thanks janetjanet998.
Channel 69 (local weather) showing pictures of the Free Bridge in Easton - looks only a few feet from overrunning it. They're saying it may be worse than Hurrican Ivan (2004)
this gives you an idea how fast the river is flowing
My sister lives in Danville, she is on the side of a mountain.
ignore last post about the flow..it didnt break the record

EVACUATION CENTERS HAVE BEEN SET UP AT LACKAWANNA TRAIL HIGH SCHOOL, AMERICAN LEGION POST AT BLACK WALNUT, LAKE WINOLA METHODIST CHRUCH AT LAKE WINOLA AND TUNKHANNOCK AREA HIGH SCHOOL IN TUNKHANNOCK.
Milton is OK for now. I am in Lewisburg. Will post if I get more info.
How bout Berwick My son and family are there.
The NWS doesn't issue a forecast for every single town on the river...however, they're forecasting a "major" flood for Bloomsburg just down the river and the same for Wilkes Barre upstream from Berwick.
I'd expect Berwick to be very badly flooded. Living in Danville I didn't go there very much and don't really know the geography but it's right on the river, obviously. I don't know what happened there in Agnes.
Also, because of the way the current rain is set up I'd expect many of the horrifying forecasts you've seen on this thread to actually be made worse in the next updates.

I am watching local TV now and they are saying it is going to be bad.I am here in Bucks County but the water is headed here and Philadelphia and the flooding is going to bad.
Wait a minute! They said 15 feet this morning and 25 feet on the way home tonight, which is 8 ft. over flood stage. You mean they've revised it higher????!!!
Downstream. I'm on the Lake Clarke shore in Lancaster county, about 8 miles above the Holtwood dam.
Be careful Sisku Hanne.
Here's a link to NWS storm reports from the region...there are zillions of them...besides the forecast Susquehanna flooding there's horrible flash flooding right now...
This is a bit SW of Berwick....
