An Ugly Phoenix Reborn
European anti-Semitism is more widespread than has been let on.

In four years, an unattractive anniversary will pass by—let us hope unnoticed—in Europe. It was in the year 1010 a.d. that a large number of French Jews were exiled or murdered. Many historians believe this event inaugurated hundreds of years of European anti-Semitism. Similarly, many observers thought the horror of Hitler's Holocaust of the Jews—the Shoah—would inoculate Europe for all time against one of Christendom's most malignant viruses: anti-Semitism. Sadly, they were wrong.

In the middle of the first decade of the third millennium, anti-Semitism in Europe has made a horrifying comeback. One of the most dramatic examples was the February murder in France of Ilan Halimi, a 23-year-old Jewish cell-phone salesman. This young man was kidnapped, ostensibly because it was thought he would fetch a good ransom (his kidnappers said they thought all Jews were "rich").

The chief rabbi of Great Britain, Sir Jonathan Sacks, has described a "tsunami-like" wave of anti-Semitism spreading across Europe and around the world. Many of his European rabbi-colleagues, he says, have been attacked in the street while wearing the traditional Jewish skullcap, the yarmulke. Jews have been singled out for insults, if not for assault, on streets of cities across the old continent. A British organization, the Community Security Trust, recently claimed that anti-Semitic incidents in Britain are at the highest level since it started keeping records in the 1980s. The World Jewish Congress goes further: Anti-Semitism in Europe, it says, is now worse than at any time since 1945.

Before we see much about prophecies in this thread,...

I've read quite a few loose and rather "spiritual" interpretations of "Gog" and "Magog" (actually, referring to a prince) over the years. A more serious study of the topic of Togarmah, Meshech, Tubal and others was very interesting. Friends, the descendents of certain ancient men in prophecy would not only be around Turkey (or in Russia, as many exclaim). The descendents occupy most of eastern Europe, parts of Asia, western Europe and maybe even much of the USA. The area around Turkey and Rome were only the starting places of some of those who, according to prophecy, will try to destroy Israel.

My (unqualified, unauthoritative, although not so loosely put together as by many others) advice for all who have interest in prophecies is simply to avoid opposing Israel--especially for those who mistakenly feel that they are destined to replace the people of Israel.

What's with this comment? Anyone who is really Christian, not in name only, wouldn't be anti-Semetic. Anti-Semitism is not an inherent characteristic of Christianity.

From one part of the study, for example, tribes around where Armenia, Georgia and other Caucasian areas likely came from Togarmah. Iberians (later, Italy and Spain) probably came from Tubal. And enormous numbers of people all over this planet are descended in various proportions from them. Other early nations were also mentioned.

As far as I can tell from having asked a few, they seem to envision him as being an anti-Jewish Jew. They choose creative comments and individual verses about him over the documents (including New Testament) that portray him as a student of the Torah. And IMO, they confuse what is attributed to Paul (who also said that he was Jewish, although he demonstrated more Hellenistic beliefs and came from a Hellenistic place) with statements attributed to Jesus.

I'm not Jewish, BTW. If I were, this message wouldn't be transmitted tonight. The study of Judaism (newer study of mine) is comforting, though.
