BAGHDAD [MENL] -- The U.S. military has laid siege to a provincial capital regarded as the hotbed of the Sunni insurgency.
Iraqi and U.S. troops, backed by main battle tanks and helicopters, have surrounded Ramadi in advance of a major operation against insurgents in the capital of Al Anbar. The U.S. Navy has deployed fast attack boats in the Euphrates River to prevent the flight of Al Qaida or other Sunni insurgents from this city of 400,000.
"I really think the fight will be in the coming days," U.S. Army Lt. Col. V.J. Tedesco, commander of the 1st Battalion, 37th Armor Regiment, 1st Armored Division, said.

It's never a good idea to piss off the BIG DOG. And now it's time to do a Falujah on this hotbed and the scum who killed our two soldiers.

Level it and shoot anything that runs.

Ramadi is infested with jihadi vermin. This infestation needs some extermination. After what alqaeda in Iraq did to our captured heros, torturing them to death, this will be the rallying cry of our brave and courageous fighting men and women: DEATH TO AL-QAEDA!!

Chris, we're on the verge of an important victory. We can't have U.S. soldiers and Marines killing the enemy. That's why it's imperative we surrender now. We should withdraw this year, next year, or start this year, or finish next year. A politician can't have it both ways when there are dozens of ways.

time to flush the toilet! This seems to be a consistent strategy. Let the bowl fill before flushing. Right now there's another bowl filling in Somalia.

I hope that they don't repeat the huge error of Fallujah.
Minimize the risk to Americans and the new Iraqi defense forces by starving them out. How long can a city of 400,000 hold out without resupply of food and fuel? Cut off their water supply and shoot them as they come out.
No catch and release, please.
Note to Moron Murtha: irregular killers not in uniform do not enjoy the protection of the Geneva Conventions...

It's about time they got serious with those Sunni heathens. After they tortured our boys over there, I don't want to hear about Gitmo or Haditha. I spent the last war in the middle east and they should all die!!!

Lets get a bunch of busses and take some of their leaders on a tour of Fallujah and wherever else we've done this.
Sometimes a vision of what could be their town's fate if they don't give up the bad guys is worth a lot more than actually beginning hostilities.

"Minimize the risk to Americans and the new Iraqi defense forces by starving them out. How long can a city of 400,000 hold out without resupply of food and fuel? Cut off their water supply and shoot them as they come out."
About 2800 years ago Assyrian King Tiglath-Pileser III was besieging some town in that very neighborhood. Maybe it was a proto-Ramadi. The king was a philanthropist - and had the besieged town surrounded by a wall, believing that a strict diet would prevent heart disease and do them a lot of good. When the starving besieged started to trickle out, he had them flayed alive and impaled on the stakes he had planted on his circumwallation walls, in the full view of the besieged town. This sight finally broke the resistance spirit, the town surrendered, and the survivors were mildly admonished and sold into slavery. And the rumor flew far and wide, and for the next century or so there was no resistance to Assyria in that vicinity, and the MSM scribes from "New Babylon Times", "Assyria Inquirer", "Nineveh Globe" and their ilk were praising the good, kind, wise, and mighty king Tiglath-Pileser III in cuneiform on every flat surface available to them. Maybe there is a lesson in that history.

Let's hope and pray that God gives victory to our troops and they succeed in slaughtering as many of these savages as possible and prisoners are not taken.

I just hope we go through with it and don't make the same mistake we did in Fallujah in 2004 by pulling back.
