Hm, that's not how I took the article. You see, I live in Anchorage, and can assure you, the typical Eskimo (refered to up here as "native") is far more patriotic than probably 90% of the folks you would find on the East Coast, imho. You don't hear any nonsense about this being "Bush's war" or "the white man's war" or any baloney like that. They are willing to serve our nation, even if they might have good reason not to do so; a quality you don't see much of elsewhere. I've admired their willingness to serve, and think if the MSM is trying to play this off as a pity story, it'll backfire. If anything, the story points out to the tremendous sacrifice that these people are willing to make.
Well, I don't mean to make fun of them. It just seems to me that the MSM is trying desperately to find people who are suffering because of the war.
I think the original writer agrees with you, he is just saying that the media is just trying to turn over another rock to find problems with the war effort.
Of course Alaskans have to sacrifice, everyone else did too and will continue to do so. But with the wacked out media being all about "ME", sacrifice for your country is a term they can not grasp at all.
The "first immigrants" to this continent have been some of the most patriotic sons and daughters to serve in the military during times of crises.
Oh that it was a "right of passage" for all who enjoy the freedom's secured by those who serve and have servered.
