Could also mean they were away from the House that day too. Kerry missed all kinds of votes while running for President. Some of them may have simply been gone. I am guessing Present is more in line with Abstaining then Not Voting.

They are reliving Vietnam in their minds, thinking this is the road to regaining their lost power in congress and support from the public>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

If so, then they will go down in the same flames as the last election and I guess we should celebrate!

Retro style politics, who woulda thunk it?

...Interesting stuff. I remember Oswald going to Russia but not that he defected. If so, that would make it even more bizarre.

Oswald was treated for a VD in Japan but the military medical report stated it was obtained "in the line of duty".

Someone asked the question (this morning on Fox News) if one reason very little constructive is coming out of the senate is because practically every Senator has his/her eye on the White House and 2008 and are not acting in the best interest of their constituents as a result. The GOP person said that, yes, she felt it was a huge problem right now while the Dem went off into one of his anti-Bush rants.

"My favorite description of Biden: "a man with doll hair" LOL"

LOL!

Looks like Plugs was speaking to a HUGH crowd of 100! He wants the Dims to let the people know that they can be great on security and to respect everyone's relgion (does the ACLU know he said that?? They may pull some of their funds from him). He said in speaking w the nation's wealthy, they'd be willing to forego their 'Bush tax cuts' for more money for Homeland Security. NO ONE is telling them they have to keep the extra money for the tax cuts - - if they want the government to have more, then why don't they just give more to the Gov? They could refuse their IRS tax refund if they get one or add more 00s to the check if they have to pay - - simple solution. There would also be more $$s for Homeland Security (if we in fact need it) if Biden and his buddies would quit spending money on pet pork projects. Oh, BTW, he also told them he was going to run for President (chuckle, chuckle). Maybe he and sKerry will team up in the next election - - though that's a lot of ego for one team!

Biden: 'Security and faith' keys to win presidency

DOVER, N.H. --Calling the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks a greater shock to the American psyche than Pearl Harbor, U.S. Sen. Joseph Biden said Saturday that Democrats must demonstrate they can provide for national security to win back the presidency.

The Delaware Democrat spoke to just over 100 people gathered at an event organized by Strafford County Democrats.

"I'm running for president -- flat out," he said, adding his party should learn to be more blunt.

"The next Democrat, whether it's me or Sen. Clinton or John Kerry, whomever -- the Democratic nominee -- they'd better be able to ante up right in front of the American people two things: security and faith," he said.

President Bush beat Kerry in 2004 because people wanted to believe he would keep them safe, Biden said. The mothers who voted for him still want one thing primarily: "Security for their families, physical security," he said.

Biden also criticized Democrats for their sometimes patronizing approach to religion, saying believers of different faiths don't expect everyone to join them.

"They just want to know we respect them," he said. "If we can't negotiate the faith issue, forget it, we won't win."

Biden argued in favor of more money for homeland security, saying in his conversations with the nation's wealthy, he found them willing to forgo their Bush tax cuts for the cause.

The real problem is anti-war Democrats are using any issue they can to bash the military and war in Iraq, not the armor itself.

While serious minded leaders, on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan, are working with the troops on the ground there to get the best mix of armor versus less armor, or any other issue, these jerks are back here carping and complaining.

The whole thing is a straw man argument to disguise their real agenda of Cut and Run.

The President's poll numbers have absolutely no bearing on how I plan to vote in November. The press keeps floating that balloon and it won't fly (IMHO).

Unbelievable link to China's new bus system, featuring the high mileage "Death Van." What you forgot to tell though was the method of death used on errant Chinese law breakers. Here a few methods I bet they are using:

1.Speeches by Hillary clinton and John Murtha--that will kill anyone.

2. Forced watching of MTP with eyelids taped open.

3. Headphones playing Barbara Streisand and the Dixie Chicks over and over at 78 rpm.

4.Force watching of Hardball

5.Lectures from Nancy Pelosi

Many other forms of tortured deaths are used, like re runs of Fla. Marlins games etc. but you get the picture.

Good addition. I missed it. Democrats complain about business going 'offshore' but they left because of Democrats interfering with business using rules and regulations that are clearly anti-business.

Same thing with drugs: complain about not enough drugs and stop the drug companies from producing them here. Same thing with oil companies: complain about high energy prices but refuse to allow exploration, production and refining here in the USA.

If rules and regualations aren't enough, the Democrat supporters like the ACLU will sue them.

#438, yes it must be very tough being the Dem leadership who are not wrapped too tight in the first place having to play footsey with raving lunatics, anti Semites, black racists, white racists, sodomites, radical feminists, radical tree huggers, radical animal rights nutsies. I must have left some group out, they are all there and have to be handled, managed, played, sometimes put out front, sometimes hidden like crazy Aunts and Uncles in the attic. They also have to re-arrange the deck chairs on the Titanic while they are correcting this lie, or this misstatement. It makes me exhausted just thinking about it, no wonder Pelosi looks like such hell she has to be botoxed and sliced and diced like a rotting Vegetable that you need to complete your salad because it is too late to get another.

Yep. The Dixie Chicklets were liking the attention they got last year w their comments in the UK until they got home. One would think that they'd learn to keep their mouths shut after that but, oh noooo, just when they thought it was save to bloviate again they did. The media may love them, but clearly some of the red states in the south and midwest don't (neener neener neener). I read another article last week that they'd be cancelling and changing some venues because of the low ticket sales.

Dixie refuses to forgive the Chicks
Sun Herald ^ | Posted on Fri, Jun. 16, 2006 | By GEOFF BOUCHER AND RANDY LEWIS

The Dixie Chicks will continue their struggle to figure out where their own Mason-Dixon Line lies on a map of America's arenas.

The reason is that ticket sales for their upcoming road run, the Accidents & Accusations Tour, have not gone as expected; in many Southern states and Midwest markets, the Chicks have not been forgiven for perceived political sins of the past. Industry watchers say some radio stations are extending their boycott of the group's recordings to include advertising bans for Dixie Chicks concerts.

"Obviously there are political overtones to this as well," says Gary Bongiovanni, editor of Pollstar, the concert industry trade publication. "It personally bothers me when I hear that two country stations in Atlanta have refused to accept advertising for the show at Philips Arena, which at this point is not selling well. These shows are in September, so I think it's a little early to be panicking."

"Some discussion about a planned terrorist poison gas attack on NY subways in 2003. Tony will not comment."

May want to take it w a grain of salt - - it's in Time

Exclusive Book Excerpt: How an Al-Qaeda Cell Planned a Poison-gas Attack on the N.Y. Subway
Time Magazine ^ | June 17, 2006 | Ron Suskind

Posted on 06/18/2006 4:56:07 AM PDT by tomnbeverly

Al-Qaeda terrorists came within 45 days of attacking the New York subway system with a lethal gas similar to that used in Nazi death camps. They were stopped not by any intelligence breakthrough, but by an order from Osama bin Laden's deputy, Ayman Zawahiri. And the U.S. learned of the plot from a CIA mole inside al-Qaeda. These are some of the more startling revelations by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Ron Suskind, whose new book The One Percent Doctrine is excerpted in the forthcoming issue of TIME. It will appear on Time.com early Sunday morning.

U.S. intelligence got its first inkling of the plot from the contents of a laptop computer belonging to a Bahraini jihadist captured in Saudi Arabia early in 2003. It contained plans for a gas-dispersal system dubbed "the mubtakkar" (Arabic for inventive). Fearing that al-Qaeda's engineers had achieved the holy grail of terror R&D — a device to effectively distribute hydrogen-cyanide gas, which is deadly when inhaled — the CIA immediately set about building a prototype based on the captured design, which comprised two separate chambers for sodium cyanide and a stable source of hydrogen, such as hydrochloric acid. A seal between the two could be broken by a remote trigger, producing the gas for dispersal. The prototype confirmed their worst fears: "In the world of terrorist weaponry," writes Suskind, "this was the equivalent of splitting the atom. Obtain a few widely available chemicals, and you could construct it with a trip to Home Depot – and then kill everyone in the store."
