Nobody my age ever voted for Roosevelt, Johnson, or Carter.
I voted for Carter. A more massive wake-up has never been. What a fool I was.

'Manners' have nothing to do with PC wordspeak. Rethink your argument.

FDR was very close to a socialist/communist. Far closer than anyone else elected till that time. He started the whole slide to socialism in the US, and was elected by the older generation.
My point is that there are a lot of folks from the previous generations who were and are as socialist as many are today.

I deal with sexual harrasement daily. I can't tell you how many times one of the women in my office has told me "You have a good one" at the end of the day when I'm going home. If I were to answer; "Thanks for noticing", "yours ain't bad either" or even, "You should see it in the dark" my desk would be emptied for me. Ultimately I end up sitting in my car sobbing for 40 minutes before my drive home. Those broads have allot to learn about men. I wish they could all feel the way I feel. One of the funniest posts I've ever read on FR !

My surviving relatives of the Roosevelt generation finally gave up on the Dems - at least for national elections - when Bill Clinton was President. He was just too gross!

I'd have voted for Carter, but I was 10. He won the elementary school straw vote :-().

You are going to love the HR guys. Oh, they already love me! (smile) So far, though, they haven't been able to nail me since I insist on treating everybody equally and fairly. I had one incident, though, where somebody complained about the performance appraisal I gave her. The HR folks backed off, however, when I showed them examples of her work and the time I've had to spend cleaning up her mistakes.

I got corrected by a person who was shocked, SHOCKED! at my describing Cinco de Mayo as a "Mexican" holiday instead of as a Latino or Hispanic holiday. I explained to her that Cinco de Mayo is a Mexican holiday based on events in Mexican history, and is therefore a holiday of little or no interest or observance in other countries with populations considered Latino/Hispanic by North Americans. She actually believed that the very word Mexican is racist. I think when I was done she understood that there is nothing inherently "evil" or "racist" in distinguishing different nationalities within the overarching category of Hispanic cultures (I didn't even bother to explain that 'Hispanic' is no more a race than is 'American', and for the exact same reason : Below the border as above, you'll find people of European, Asian, African, and 'indigenous' backgrounds, or a mixture of some or all.)

I think 'older generation' refers to those of us who were not schooled in the current PC-revisionist history schools of today -- who still have common sense.

"Not too long ago it was a thriving country called Rhodesia, until political correctness took over and not long after the killings began." Using Mugabe as an example of political correctness is disconnected enough to undercut the entire article.

Consider the dual message of the N word, When I was growing up, 'nigger' was just a word. You didn't say it to someone or about someone, that would be rude and offensive, but it was just a word.
It could be used in a sentence, without converting it to its initial.
Its still offensive to say about someone or to someone, but now, one can't even say the dreaded word in converstation.

I have been chastized here on FR, for calling citizens of Mexico Mexicans. I have been accused of racism for using the word. Very strange.

I voted for Carter. A more massive wake-up has never been. What a fool I was.You could be forgiven for voting for Carter in 1976, after all Ford, at the time, looked even worse.
If you voted for Carter in 1980, then that we won't forgive. ;)

Gender refers to "he" and "she". Sex is the actual designation.
