Is any one of the gripers aware that the number of non-military government employees has gone DOWN?
The GOP was more liberal 20 and 30 years ago.
It is because Pat's supporters did not want Gore to win. They switched votes for Bush. If they were as rigid as Ralph Nader supporters Gore would be the president.
The real support for Buchanan might be about 30% of Republicans and 10% of Democrats. This would translate into 17% votes he got at one moment.
I'm no Buchanan worshipper. I voted for Bush twice. I think he has done great things re the WOT. We got two fine justices, but almost got Harriet Myers, until we dragged the President kicking and screaming to someone more, shall we say, conservative? It seems to me that "neo" conservatives are more like democrats circa 1960.
I doubt they would notice facts, it spoils their rant.
You know why?
They are now Gov't contractors, not GS/GG, etc...
John McCain had to be dragged kicking and screaming to vote to repeal the tax.
Bill Archer chairs the House committee that has been purposely holding up the repeal of the Death Tax for over a decade.
This Republican Congress is NOT conservative, at least in the Free Republic sense of the word.
They are not just toothless and spineless; they are downright MODERATE !
Even if you are correct, which I am not sure about, that would mean they are contracted to perform certain tasks, and when finished their contract is up. They also are not covered by the government employee health insurance and retirement plans, and are not members of the union. I would think this is a GOOD thing.
Neocons are not conservatives. They are the globalists who will move to the left (Democrats) in a blink if it they find it expedient.
Hence, it's been my tagline for quite some time now...
"After eight exhausting years of the Dynamic Clinton Duo's perverted administration and despite the fact that I'd be gagging constantly, I'd vote for McCainiac before I'd vote for HRH Hitlery von Rottenham Klinton!"
I wouldn't. If I'm gonna have to suffer under a liberal, it can damn well be a Democrat. I will NOT vote for a Republican who has dissed the social conservatives the way that John McCain has.
You personally attack another poster and you don't even ping them to the personal attack. That's two rules violations in one post. And you do it on a thread that you are given the privilege to start.
Real nice piece of work.
That's the bottom line.
"They are not just toothless and spineless; they are downright MODERATE !"
If you want them as a group to be more conservative, get rid of the RATS.
Yeah, Johnnie just comes on a thread and calls everybody he can think of as many names as possible. He isn't out for debate or dialogue, just to inflame. He epitomizes what he criticizes.
None of the 9/11 bombers were from Iraq. And there was a good reason why Ronald Reagan was supporting Saddam Hussein.
A reflexive action done without thinking.
One thousand pardons.
#56 sums up the situation with more eloquence than I am capable of mustering.
"John McCain had to be dragged kicking and screaming to vote to repeal the tax."
The whole tag-team puppet show is getting a bit old, to me. McCain needed to be on record in favor of repeal for the Republican presidential primaries. But, he also needed the appearance of resistance to appeal to his beloved "moderates." And so, the proper scenario for him to be both, simultaneously, was (surprise, surprise) provided for him. Pure stagecraft. The final vote tally was negotiated before the fact.
