Those of you who believe Osamma and Al Qaeda would not exist if Reagan went on the offensive in Lebanon or Bush I would have pushed on in Baghdad, are woefully uninformed about Islam in general and radical Islam in particular.

The goal of Islam since the day of Muhammad has been world domination. Islamic extremism starter in the middle of the 19th century and has been picking up steam ever since. The problems related to radical Islam would be different, but we'd still be having them.

Well....it isn't just me...it is people at some of the think tanks..

I will agree with you that this isn't new...that radical (all?) Islam has had their goal of controlling all of the world for centuries...

BUT, why now? and why Bin Ladin?

Maybe, because IN HIS OWN WORDS, he saw that America doesn't fight to win, ever since the Vietnam War....thank you John F'n Kerry.

There's been some very convincing writing that it was Clinton's failure and occupatus interruptus which gave OBL and his henchmen the idea that we'd be a pushover. Reagan's Lebanon episode hasn't been mentioned.
