I'm taking this news, if it is true, and perhaps it really is, in nuetral mode. For all we know it may really be a very good move. But just for the hell of it:
1. Abd al-Aziz al-Hakim (a Shiite coalition).
hmmmmm. Very strange, why would the shia work toward toward trying to reform the Baathist Party.
2. Adnan al-Dulaymi (a Sunni group).
Ok. Wonder however, if he was more for reconcillation in the spirit of making deals to end the Saddamist part of the insurgency.
3. Shiite Iyyad Allawi.
Perhaps more an excuse to just keep him out of the action. But it is suspicious, because all we have read about Allawi's near death with the Saddamist regime. Of course he was a Baathist and obviously would have close ties with many like people that where in rule. But this is a bit of a surprise. At least for me. Strange. He is a secular Shia. Why would he at this point want to cut himself off from possible future key roles?
Or will we find a huge power play under the tables by the dominant Shia parties (Dawa and SCIRI). It will be interesting see what Moh and Omar have to say in the days to come at ITM on this deal.
