My leanings so far...

Neighbors ran against Tom Askeland in the Repubican primary for the 23rd assembly in 2000 and lost to Askeland (43.3% to 56.7%).
In the general election, Neighbors backstabbed my friend Tom and supported the Democrat (Manny Diaz). I won't be voting for him.

This is one of the most frustrating primaries I can remember...
I don't know any of the names for Treasurer, for United States Rep. 22nd District or for governor short of Schwarzenegger...
I didn't vote for Schwarzenegger last time but he may be the best choice this time.
I tried to find information about them and found little that was useful.
The only one I feel good about is Tom McClintock for Lieutenant Gov and somewhat Tony Strickland for Controller.
Anyone here know anything about the other candidates?
I really need to get my absentee ballot mailed today (Thursday).

You can check 'em out on this thread...
CA Freepers Voter Guide 6/6/2006 Primary Statewide Partisan Republican Ballot Pachoogian for Attorney General. He's a good law-n-order kind of guy and a fairly reliable conservative vote in Sacramento.
Diane Lenning for Superintendent of Public Instruction. She's against the Meathead Initiative (Prop 82) and has done battle against the teachers unions, particularly against the radical homosexual agenda.
Again, check out the other thread for more opinions.

Is it really neccessary to devout a whole thread to a single race where there's one candidate running UNOPPOSED?

I just wanted to provide an opportunity to discuss all the candidates and measures by relevant groupings. There is too much over lap with other district types to include those.
I suppose making one thread for all 4 Equalization District Republicans, would have been the right sized scope,
but those other districts didn't concern me. Maybe next time I'll include them all.

Looking at my notes in my March 2000 ballot, I see that I wrote Neighbors as pro-abortion and opposed Prop 22 (marriage is between a man and a woman)

Thanks, that was helpful.
Does anyone know anything about the United States Rep for the 22nd District? The choices are:
Kevin Mc Carthy
David W. Evans
Steve W. Nichols
I know nothing about any of them.

There's an intriguing race in the 3rd BOE race between Michelle Steel (wife of former CRP chair Shawn Steel) and Ray Haynes.
If we can keep the 3rd in the hands of a Republican, and keep Bill Leonard as representing the 2nd, then having Tony Strickland as our next Controller will give us an ever-important tiebreaker.

Kevin McCarthy was part of the Wilsonegger gang and is a protege of Bill Thomas.
