Only hours after Iraqi civilians were killed, a second team of Marines was sent in to take the victims' bodies to a local morgue.
Lance Corp. Ryan Briones was among the Marines sent in to recover the bodies, and he told the Los Angeles Times he is still haunted by what he saw, including a young girl who was shot in the head.
"[The victims] ranged from little babies to adult males and females," Briones told the newspaper. "I can still smell the blood."
Briones says he and another Marine were told to photograph the bodies. Military officials say those photos which they say show people shot at close range in the head and chest clearly contradict initial reports that the civilians were killed by a roadside bomb.

Where do you think all the changing stories come from?
So his boots happened to be in the room at the time her brains splattered out of the hole in her skull? This statement is obviously a LIE.
I seem to remember something about being illiterate. Some information is already out. That includes changing stories from the Marine Corps regarding this incident. It took an investigaiton by the Marines to determine their wasn't an ambush after the roadside bomb went off, it occured sometime after the 3rd house was raided.
"you go ahead and prepare the gallows"
I've prepared no gallows. I expect the results of the investigation to released and the proper action taken. In the meantime, I have what info is already known.
There. I fixed your reply for you. No need to thank me.
Until there is verifiable physical proof or testimony by unbiased eyewitnesses (good luck with that in Iraq) that the civilians were killed by Marine bullets for no valid security or self defense reason I will not jump to the conclusion that the Marines murdered those people in cold blood.
If we held the surviving 9/11 terrorist Massoui (sp?) innocent until proved guilty in a court of law we can certainly give our own Marines that same right in our personal court of opinion.
You fixed nothing. Your claim this is made up is also bogus. If it was the Corps would have set the record staight already. What I posted is fact.
At this point how would anyone know except the Marines who were there when the killing occurred? From what I have read about the reports there are no neutral eyewitnesses to the killings and no physical evidence to support charges of murder.
Let's at least wait for the investigation to be completed and reliable news of some kind of incriminating evidence is made public before we condemn the Marines to Leavenworth for life.
There's that illiteracy thing again. I never claimed that anything was made up. I have only maintained that I will keep an open mind and not jump to conclusions based on what the America-hating mainstream newsrooms are reporting about this incident. I will not render any judgment at all until the investigations are complete. To do otherwise would be naive.
They filed reports and they were changed. The information was released including the changes.
" before we condemn the Marines to Leavenworth for life."
No one on this thread has done that.
From post #384 where "already known" was crossed out and replaced with, "has been reported by those impeccably honest, would-never-tell-a-lie journalists from the liberal mainstream, Dan Rather newsrooms.
I've passed no judgment. Just stated what's widely known and comes from the Corps, or is not disputed by them. Their investigation will disclose much additional info.
Indeed. I expect this matter to be investigated thoroughly by the US Military authorities and the truth to be determined. I am confident the chips will fall where they may. Do you share this confidence?
Give me a break.
Hey, you sound EXACTLY like Jack Murtha. You'll excuse me if I take Gen. Pace's word over yours and Jackie, 'kay?
How about rooting for our side during this war, Sink? You need to take a long, hard look in the mirror and ask yourself what in the heck you're doing, playing judge and jury here.
Dumb claim to make to someone who's been there. But your claim isn't exactly lonely, now is it?
So I wonder who those 9 "victims" could be...
I have no doubt that really terrible things can and have happened in war ...did it happen here? I dont have a clue....but the incessant drum beat from the left, especially over Memorial weekend, says everything about the drum beaters and nothing about what really happened
Indeed. Well said.
"Guess I shouldn't have bought such a crappy pair cuz the farthest I can see with mine is into my neighbor's bedroom..."
I'm telling you Mordacious, I catch you one more time and I'm calling the cops!!! : )
yeah and the stupid MSM falls for it EVERY time. This is not a new tactic. The VC would go to great detail to make it look like we offed a village where we had never even BEEN.
I havent watched any of the big 3 newscasts in over 10 years and will never do so again. Hell I dont watch the networks, period.
Lets all wait and let our military justice system work.
