The “Real” Reason Kerry lost—Remembering and Honoring Vietnam’s Heroes.

The “Real” Reason Kerry lost—Remembering and Honoring Vietnam’s Heroes.

With newspaper reports (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1639667/posts) of John (The Snake) Kerry out to prove his claims about his exploits in Vietnam and thereby, intending to discredit the Swift Boat Vets (and by association, all of the rest of us Vietnam Vets who opposed him, more so, for his actions after he returned from Nam) I thought it appropriate to post this, on this Solemn Day of Commemoration.

I composed this poem and posted it on the eve before the last election (November 1st) and I believe it speaks for itself.

God Bless (and protect) all of our Military; God Bless all Vets; and God Bless America.

John O'Neil et al "made the difference" -- and, without them, John Kerry - snake that he is - would be sitting in the White House today.

I, for one, will be forever grateful for their efforts.

Patriots that fought perhaps their most difficult battle--here, on home soil, against fellow countrymen.

It seems to me some of our vets are owed as many thanks in civilian life as they are owed for their time in uniform.

Thank you, namvet66. I think you are absolutely correct. Not only the majority of nam vets but also their Moms, Dads, brothers, sisters, children and friends scorned Kerry. No wonder he lost but that is something the nutty left just doesn't understand.

Thank you all veterans everywhere not only today but everyday.

IMHO, the other thing that the Swift Boat Vets did was finally get the rest of us out of that silent running mode.

"Not only the majority of nam vets but also their Moms, Dads, brothers, sisters, children and friends scorned Kerry."

You are absolutely right. We had a lots of help from friends, family, relatives, and other vets from other wars/conflicts.

We Nam Vets who were stigmatized and subjected to so much as a result of Kerry, the VVAW and their ilk, should be ever vigilant and do whatever we can to protect our brave military serving today from letting this ever happening to them.

Believe me, the VVAW (check out their site) is still going strong and (I believe) helped organize and is wholeheartedly, supporting the Iraq Vets Against War (IVAW).

"For the want of a nail, the shoe was lost; for the want of a shoe the horse was lost; and for the want of a horse the rider was lost, being overtaken and slain by the enemy, all for the want of care about a horseshoe nail."...Benjamin Franklin

Sometimes it's the little things.

In 2004 I looked at what the swift boat veterans were up against. They started with a sawbuck and a gnawing thought that this just isn't right. They threw themselves against all the money anyone could use in a lifetime, from one man, from one political party and from the free attack ads provided with glee from the right and just main stream media.

At the time in seemed to me they were trying to hold back a tsunami with a tea cup. That image hasn't faded in the intervening years.

I, too, will be forever grateful for the second great service to the nation performed by John O'Neill and the rest.

"IMHO, the other thing that the Swift Boat Vets did was finally get the rest of us out of that silent running mode."

You are absolutely correct and that might have been the single most important outcome from the 04 elections, Kerry, the VVAW, etc.

"WE," kept quiet, kept to ourselves, endured the ridicule, declined to discuss our experiences with anyone (with the exception of fellow vets who understood and even then, not much); tried to put the past behind us; refused to even admit we were Vietnam Vets as that was detrimental to our well being, and just got on with our lives.

But of course, we NEVER forgot.

Kerry, making Nam the focus of his campaign and considering his conduct after he got back and the interest it generated, FINALLY, gave some of us the impetus and werewithal to "come out of the closet" (swinging, if you will) and were able to release years of pent up frustrations and this gave us a forum to try and regain our reputations and respect and lose the shame we had lived with for so long, by exposing Kerry and all of the others for the phony liars that they were.

Sadly, we were only partially successful. With the MSM and others (not the least of which was McCain) shilling, defending, attacking the SB Vets and covering up for The Snake at every turn, we were not able to win a clear-cut victory, and that is why I (and others) are thankful that Kerry is apparently, going to give us another bite of the appple?

Oh how I hope so and perhaps, this time, we can finally expose the whole truth about Kerry, the VVAW, etc.

I agree!!! GW Bush and the Republican Party were too whimpy to call this low life traitor exactly what he was and is, guilty of treason and betrayal to the very military he rubbed shoulders with. He is pure vermin and scum, just as is the entire Democrat "Traitor/Treason" Party. I sit here on Memorial Day celebrating our men and women of the USA military, while recognizing what most Americans will not, that the Democrat Party and members like John Kerry are directly responsible for aiding and abetting our enemies, and directly causing needless deaths and injuries within the pride of our defense. If I could wave a magic wand, or had the powers of the Almighty, I would bring back to life and health all those military folks that were damaged in harms way by the antics and actions of the liberal, vermin Democrats, and trade a uselss Democrat for each one, starting with John Kerry, Dick Durbin, John Murtha, John Conyers, Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer, Ted Kennedy, etc.
