Okay. Fair consideration.
True enough. The same thing happened when the textile industry moved from New England to the South and now overseas. Cheap labor without many of the domestic governmental regulations and restrictions will lead more and more companies to relocate outside the US. No worry about OSHA, medical care, SS benefits, etc., which raise the cost of the product and price you out of the market. It is called the global economy.
Haliburton!!!
Murtha's self-serving publicity quest knows no shame. How many times does he have to mention he visits wounded vets at Walter Reed? I bet they wish he wouldn't!!! He's a sanctimonious old blow-hard! Nobody loves the Marines more than he does....Bullhockeydoodoo! He makes the stomach churn!!
Sounded today on ABC with George Steph as if Murtha is going after Pace himself for participating in a cover-up. Murtha used his usual tricks today, makes a wild accusation, then back-pedals after he's made his head-line grabbing soundbite. Today his target was General Pace and higher ups.
Shut these old fools up!!!! If Marines did something wrong, they will be punished. But carrying on and on, posturing for attention by bemoaning the people who get killed in a war is beneath contempt. War kills. Thank God our country didn't stop the war for some soulful handwringing when a few Germans or a few Japanese got killed.
I repeat. The guilty will be punished, and without Murtha on his soapbox.
I watched ABC Stephie show and noticed Brian Ross was not on the panel. I didn't hear a word about his report on Hastert, but I did hear Brit Hume tell the FOX panel that ABC's report by Brian Ross was clearly intended to give the impression, Hastert is under investigation by the Justice Dept.
The opening words out of George Steph's mouth today was not an apology for taking part in Brian Ross's bogus report, calling an investigation into Hastert "seismic, if true". Instead Steph made a snide comment about President Bush and Blair apologizing for mistakes. I couldn't help but wonder if Steph had any qualms about even mentioning the word "apology" today. Guess not.
That goes w/o saying. Both bills have a fence and beefed up border patrols.

It's not just labor. Regulatory costs, taxes, environmental rules and all the other costs of doing business have to be included for consideration. Just a comment.
True enough. The combination of cheap labor and machines result in a cheaper product. In Indonesia, India, Malaysia, and China thousands are sitting at their sewing machines making clothing for the rest of the world.
HEY! It's HER PEER group!!!
True but I work for a company who has a joint venture in China and there are a lot of regulations and paperwork etc just different ones.
The main source of saving is the cost of raw materials and labour. When items cannot be sourced in China they are often more expensive to buy in China (imported) than in the western world.
Exactly Perdogg,
These black reporters don't need to look any farther than the mirror to find a racist.
Seems like the women's lacrosse players have been educated how false accusations can ruin someone's life.
You nailed it, they don't have any of the regulations we have here. Many of the illegals have fake ID and businesses purchase insurance to pay the fines if they are caught with these workers. I know one company that has to pay his insurance company $2/hr per employee to protect himself. Finding these people is next to impossible.

Also the material they use is cheaper because it is produced by cheaper labour.
Yeah, but now they have "mobile" voters, who floated out of New Orleans, to other locations.......
Thanks for the post, this Memorial day I put a flag in my yard for every vet who served in my family that I know of. So far, 14 servicemen have come through my family . When I find out another one I put up another. Also ,I have a big support our troops ribbon that is inflateable with a God Bless America flag. the flag wore out due to hard use so I ordered another one. Please the nickname Betsy Ross , is a nickname I got from my sons. Please you are so right {Pray For America, G W Bush , tomorrow , take one minute out to pray for our troops . God Bless America and Free republic. Ps I hope Hannity would read some of these posts, maybe he would wise up!
It really is tough to do three hours a day and please everyone, especially on a nat. syndicated show. One of the bottom lines I use is that most are basically Conservative.
We see what is happening to Air Amerika, they are disintegrating. It would be nice if some of these guys were a bit more supportive but all that takes time. And like MNJ says, "if you get 60%, don't complain tooooo much."
Nice story, thanks for sharing that. I always thought of Tony Orlando as a special person. This confirms it.
No but a lot of companies in China provide housing and food to their employees the main saving is the raw material and labour costs.
Its absurd to argue, "we can't get along without illegals"
We have 288 million citizens and 9 million working illegals.
The number of teenagers working is at all time low. They used to do a lot of the jobs illegals do.
Further, illegals are doing "jobs" that don't need to be done. In California we have illegals:
1) Working in Car Washes (Wash your own car, you lazy S.O.B)
2) Mowing the grass. (Get Junior to do it)
3) Standing on the side of the road waving "Eat at Joe's" signs.
4) Being maids and nannies to stay-at-home Moms.
I am a consultant. Of sorts. For the past ten years or so I've freelanced for various companies, advised on when to sell property, setting up systems, that kind of thing.
So how WOULD a business handle this immigration problem? Forget the government, filled with congress critters wanting to get re-elected and thus only thinking of the immediate future. The government rarely makes the right decision on these long term things.
FIRST thing, when entering into a situation with an existing problem such as the non-stop flow of illegal immigrants from Mexico...any fool who works for a living would advise to STOP this before doing anything else.
The illegals have been living here for yea long, leave them alone for another year. Do a thorough assessment of that southern border and figure out how best to stop the flood of humanity pouring in. Don't fool around, no jokes, hire an outside company to make the assessment if need be.
NEXT, set up an immigration system that WORKS. Show me how employers can check for bogus SS cards or show me this biometric thing. Set the limits for immigrants, scream and rant but get it down in writing. Show me the GOVERNMENT is up to setting up a decent system. Hire an outside company to do it.
Get THAT job done, then let's have a national dialogue about how to handle the illegals already here.
Common Business Sense 101.
IF all this were done in an orderly and believable manner, and in the above order, then the disgruntled American people would be up to a fair system to lead the illegals to citizenship. I am one who does not believe that any sort of mass deportation would work or even if it's all that desireable. Your mileage may vary and that's okay. Let's talk about it; engage in a national dialogue, figure the pros the cons and the fairness of it.
And I do mean have a national dialogue. No totally unrealistic stuff; no back taxes or crap that is not going to happen. Few illegals are going to step forward only to be slapped with huge fines; money they likely do not have. We know what happened with that 1986 bill and the American people, most of us who work at legitimate businesses and have a clue or two about how things are done, are not going to like any other mass amnesty, indeed don't even want to talk about it, until those first two items are handled.
Unfortunately such big problems take some time and the congress critters want to get re-elected. Thus they do, from time to time, do the most expedient thing and grant a whole bunch of illegals amnesty just to take care of the pressing issues and get the silly voters off their back.
This time I really believe it's not going to work.
