Doesn't Murtha have some looming ethics & possible legal problems?
I seem to remember some discussion that these left-wing outbursts are his way of shielding himself this near-future event.
Basically he will claim persecution if the legal & ethics problem blossom.

Doesn't Murtha have some looming ethics & possible legal problems? I believe he does, I've read that on several threads over the last couple months. I don't know the details but it's something that's been going on quite a while.

Murtha's brother is a lobbyist for some defense industries and has steered defense contracts their way...like over $20 million in just one year (2004). Murtha is the ranking democrat on the Defense appropriations subcommittee. He used to be the Chair of it.
The Hill reported in October that John Murtha is the top House recipient of campaign contributions from the defense industry for the past three years. As of the October 31, 2005 Federal Election Commission report, Murtha had received over $200,000 from defense firms in the 2006 election cycle, surpassing the next highest recipient by over $60,000. You can read more on this @ Murtha CYA
