If I didn't know better,
I'd think you thought you were being funny.

But I know you're dead serious.

Uh dirt, those type of comemnts come from an almost cult that posts incessently on FR

Yeah, and Lanni Davis blamed OKC on Rush and conservatives. Same kind of association of the larger group with a small violent minority. And just as despicable.

If LM wants to make the case for Bush's proposal, make the case. Quit sliming the entire opposition to Bush because of a few over-the-top posters.

I sure hope you are right.

I'd say it's precarious right now due to the divisiveness of this one issue......a divisiveness pushed by well meaning border bots, many of whom are my good friends.

Darlin', there may come a day when you see and feel differently.

I fail to understand your point, I confess.

..My hope is that angry Border Conservatives, when they retaliate against the Republican Party, which they will, and indeed - given human psychology and self-respect, MUST - do so intelligently...

I agree 1000% with this and appreciate your overall response.

Hey FReepers, how about a strategy for making sure the right folks stay in office and the wrong ones get booted?

Are you saying there is a language for conservatives that liberals don't use and visa versa?

HEY!

Did I miss a workshop or training session!?!?

If they take over the House and start impeachment hearings to appease the lunatic fringe. They will also link legislation to an immidiate withdrawl from Iraq. You should take a look at some liberal sites to see what they have planned, it aint sitting on their hands waiting for 2008.

As a newcomer I tend to assume that anybody with a '98 signup date is a battle hardened proven conservative Freeper.

Not a safe assumption by any means, but that is still considerably less silly than assuming that they were planted in '98 for the purpose of rising 8 years later to get into arguments with Republicans.

Who is "they"?

A majority, not all, of the fresh arrivals from south of the border come from a different culture and have a different mindset about what a society is and how it functions. It is what it is. That is why Mexico is what it is. Some cultures are more collectivist than ours. Mexico is rich in natural and human resources, so why is it so bad that people want to leave? Answer: a corrupt political system born from a different culture and mindset. I have traveled all over Latin America for over 35 years and came by my opinions firsthand and honestly. I like the people there well enough or I would not visit there, but I don't have the same mindset that allows that kind of political system. The illegals first act in this country is just that - illegal- breaking our laws and demonstrating a disrepect for our laws. I don't want America to become a socialized country like Mexico. I'll bet the majority of Hispanic voters in South Texas vote Democrat. Am I wrong?

I can disagree with Bush and the Republcans over this issue or any other and still not want to side with Clinton, Reid, Pelosi, Kennedy, Kerry, et al. I despise everything they stand for.

It's disturbing and frightening. If I thought there was an alternative, I'd be all for it. But there isn't, so I'll keep voting for Republicans so we can keep getting conservative judges who will MAYBE make enoough court decisions in my lifetime that I will see the country swing away from socialism.

I don't think that there is a practical national alternative to the Republican party for conservatives. Not now, and not in the foreseeable future. Since I consider myself a conservative first, I have, do, and will continue to vote Republican.

How do we influence change in the party when we think it's necessary? I can see why those who believe that "Vote 'em out!" is the most direct way to make their concerns known. It's a statement phrased in language every career politician understands. It's also cutting off one's nose to spite one's face if a rat gains office and proceeds to run wild for even a term or two.

What is the alternative? I wish I knew.

The polls will even lie and tell you the President scooped it out. One poll published today said that just 2% of opponents to the President - 2%!

The Dims and their media allies want those 30 million+ new voters pretty badly, don't they?
