No, silly. This is all about legalizing illegal aliens ~ not protecting people here legally.

The US Senate thinks you don't have enough MS 13 gang members in your neighborhood.

The Bushbots are not accusing anyone of racism. After all, "W" is leading the way in that regard himself by making sure he gets a legislative package that puts Mexicans first!

Are they saying that in one or two generations we will have to import another 12-15 million from somewhere to do the jobs the 3rd or 4th generation Mexicans won't do?

We're not supposed to think that thought. We're not supposed to think on this. Only listen to the rhetoric and have an emotional reaction to want to be "generous" and "welcoming". Welcoming! That's a good one. They broke in thru the back door and we're supposed to be welcoming!

Oops! Mea culpa. No name calling tho. We get enough of that from the other side. Tho, as names go, i guess "silly" is not so bad.

But I've been called one nonetheless. Amazing that it's come to this.

re: "There is a right to immigrate, but it is not absolute"

Totally false. There is no "right" to immigrate. When a person is denied the ability to immigrate for some capricious reason, he should have no standing in court to claim that His "rights" have been violated.

Entry to the USA is a privilege that can be capriciously applied, and should be. I favor a much broader extension of that privilege than some Freepers. But we must agree that it is a "privilege" and not a "right".

re: "Immigrants are people of great dignity"

Absurd generalization. Most immigrants are hard working decent people. But save the word "great" for the top 1% of immigrants. A couple dozen immigrants have given their lives in Iraq to expand our freedom. We could label them "great". But most people in any group are not "great" they are "average" by definition of those terms.

And a few immigrants are below average undesireables.

"This is all about legalizing illegal aliens "

This illustrates the absurdity of the debate.
If my property is a non-conforming use in the zoning laws and the zoning law is changed to make it legal then I receive amnesty.

I speed and don't wear my seatbelt on the way to work every day. So I get to work by illegal means.

The real question the anti illegals must answer is not that they are guilty of jaywalking. The real question is

. . . . "What harm do the hardworking illegals do to me or you?"

One answer is that a small percentage have terrorist intentions, or they murder, rape, and do things that DO HARM others. A slightly larger percentage are parasites seeking welfare (by whatever name you chose).

Then immigration policy should be focused on that small percentage that do, in fact, harm others and not on the majority who, in fact, are an asset to our enconomy and do allow me a higher standard of living at a cheaper price and do do those jobs that citizens will not do.

In this debate we need to keep the phrasing right.

The phrase "We are a nation of immigrants" bugs me. I don't know what the percentage of LEGAL immigrants is in this country, but it is certainly not an overwhelming number in comparison to those of us who were born here.

I was born here. On one side my great-great-great-great grandfather was an immigrant and my great-great grandfather was an immigrant. On my mothers side both sets of great grandparents were the immigrants (as children).

We are a nation of NATIVES.

Silly is not a noun, it's an adjective. But the way you used it was as a name.

Immigrants are people of great dignity, Except the ones that make up 30% of the prison population.

Actually, the number is 35%.

Also excepted must be the illegal aliens who murder 4,400 Americans per year and those illegal aliens who drive drunk and run down 4,800 Americans per years. Further excepted would be those who sexually abuse 3,000 American children per year.

In fact, ILLEGAL immigrants have NO dignity, let alone "great dignity", at all. They are law breakers and criminals.

Here's some CLEAR THINKING on immigration....

1. SECURE THE BORDER. We have a national security issue. Secure our borders first. Put the manpower and the technology on the border to GET THE BORDERS UNDER CONTROL.

2. While we are in the process of securing the borders, begin developing a new VIIC (Visitor/Immigrant Identification Card). EVERY PERSON who enters the US must be issued one of these cards, which is tied to a national data base.

3. Any employer who employees a person without a proof of citizenship OR a valid VIIC card would be subject to a $10,000 fine per person hired and a FELONY record. ENFORCE THIS LAW VIGOUROUSLY.

- We could get a program like this going in less than 1 year, probably by January 1st.

- Legals would be carded and could work as needed. They would then be subject to taxes, SS payments, insurance requirements, etc..

- Illegals would have to go home because there would be no jobs for illegals.

Might have looked that way. However, it did appear you had lost your way in the morass of immigration reform.

If i appear to have lost my way, you can attempt to straighten me out if you like with facts or opinions. But don't patronize me with name calling.
